When Tinder Plus is not working, the app usually does not recognize your subscription, and the fix is to restore the purchase. Tinder says restoring only reconnects an active subscription and does not start a new transaction. If restoring fails, the subscription is most likely tied to a different Tinder account.
Know what Plus includes
Before you decide something is broken, check what the plan promises. Tinder says Tinder Plus includes unlimited daily Likes and unlimited Rewinds. It also includes Passport Mode, hiding ads and going incognito.
That list is shorter than Gold's or Platinum's. It does not include the page that shows who liked you, so a man who bought Plus expecting to see his likes is looking for something it was never sold with. Match what you are missing against that list before you spend an hour on fixes.
Ads are a separate case. Some men decide Plus is broken because they still see ads, but Tinder says some Plus subscribers may still see ads because of testing. Seeing one does not prove the plan is off.
Restore the purchase on your phone
If you bought Plus through Apple or Google Play, restoring it is a few taps.
- Open Tinder and tap the profile icon.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll down and select Restore Purchase.
Give the app a minute afterwards and check whether the features have come back. Tinder says the best fix for a subscription the app does not recognize is to restore the purchase.
Purchases made on Tinder.com, with PayPal or Venmo, or with the credit card option on Android are restored differently. Sign in at Tinder.com, go to Manage Account, and enter the Restore Token from your confirmation email. The token starts with RT.
If you cannot find the email, search your inbox for Tinder's confirmation first. Everything you need is in that one message.
One subscription, one account
Tinder says a subscription can be tied to only one Tinder account at a time. If you try to restore it on a second account, the error says the subscription is tied to an existing Tinder account.
That tends to happen to men who deleted an account and made a new one, or who keep two logins on one phone. Tinder's instruction is to delete the old account before restoring on the new one. Think that through before you act, because deleting an account removes everything attached to it. Decide which account you want to keep, and then restore on that one.
If you moved between iOS and Android, Tinder suggests cancelling your current subscription and subscribing again on the new device. Keep the confirmation emails from both.
What Plus cannot do even when it works
A working plan still has limits. a dating coach's view of paid features on dating apps is that they act as multipliers. A multiplier helps a man who already gets some matches, and it adds nothing to zero.
Unlimited Likes will not rescue a lead photo that gets passed over. Unlimited Rewinds do not make a first line better. Plus gives you more room to act, and the quality of what you send still decides what comes back.
So after the features return, judge Plus the way you would any test. Count your matches and your conversations over two weeks and compare them with the two weeks before. If nothing moves, put the money toward better photos instead.
Swipe on purpose with what Plus gives you
Once it works, spend the extras with a plan. Unlimited Likes tempt a man into liking everyone, which fills his list with women he would not choose and leaves him too many conversations to start well. Like the women you would be glad to meet, and write each of them a first line about something on her page.
Use Rewind to take back a card you passed by accident, and not as a way to second-guess every choice. Passport is worth switching on only when you are about to be somewhere else. Incognito and ad hiding are comforts, and they have no effect on how many women answer you.
The short version
Restore the purchase, check that you are on the account you paid with, and use the Tinder.com Restore Token if you did not pay through Apple or Google Play. A subscription follows one account at a time, and Plus does less than Gold or Platinum. If the features return and your results stay flat, the photos need the work. If nothing here fixes it, contact Tinder and give the device, how you paid, the exact error, and the steps you tried.
