Open Tinder, tap the profile icon, select Settings, then tap Get Tinder Platinum. Platinum includes every Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold feature and adds Prioritized Likes. Tinder says that helps your Likes and Super Likes be seen faster by a potential match. Tinder's FAQ also mentions messaging before matching and visibility into the likes you have sent.
The steps
- Open Tinder.
- Tap the profile icon.
- Select Settings.
- Tap Get Tinder Platinum.
If you already subscribe to Plus or Gold, you can upgrade to Platinum from the same place, the profile icon and then Settings. You can change the tier, but not the length of the subscription. Decide the tier first, and treat the length as already settled once you pick it.
Where it works
Tinder works in the iOS and Android apps and on Tinder.com, and most features are available on the web. So you are not tied to your phone, and you can use the Platinum features from a laptop too.
What Platinum includes
Platinum stacks three layers.
From Plus: unlimited Likes and Rewinds, Passport Mode, no ads and incognito.
From Gold: weekly Super Likes, one Boost a month and See who Likes You.
Its headline addition is Prioritized Likes. Tinder says it helps your Likes and Super Likes be seen faster by a potential match, before the Likes of non-subscribers. It does not promise she will see them.
How to use Prioritized Likes well
Prioritized Likes change when she sees your Like, not what she thinks of you when she looks. You are asking to be noticed sooner, and a woman who is noticed sooner decides sooner.
That makes the quality of your card more important, not less. A man with a clear photo, a specific bio and a recent set gets a faster answer, and often a better one. A man with a weak card gets a faster no.
So spend the priority on women you would honestly like to meet. a dating coach's coaching view is that liking everyone teaches the app nothing useful and makes you look unselective, and priority makes that habit costlier.
Spend the weekly Super Like on one woman
Gold's weekly Super Likes carry over into Platinum, and a weekly allowance is small enough to treat as rare. Save it for the woman you most want to meet, instead of spending it on the first card of the evening. A Super Like says you picked her specifically, and it only says that if you are not sending one to everyone.
Messaging before matching
Tinder's FAQ lists messaging before matching as part of Platinum. If you have it, a first message can arrive before she has decided whether to like you back.
That message is now your whole pitch, so it needs more care than a message sent after a match, where her interest already exists. Take one specific thing from her page, a place, her dog or something she wrote, and respond to it in one short line. Do not write a paragraph, and do not open with a compliment about how she looks.
If you would not be happy to have it read cold by a stranger, do not send it.
Use the likes you have sent
The visibility into likes you have sent is a way to check your own behavior. After a week, look at who you liked and who matched.
If you liked many women and matched with few, the answer is rarely the tier. It is your photos, or whom you chose to like. Adjust one of them and look again.
A first week on Platinum
Treat the first week as a test with a scoreboard. Note your starting numbers: how many women you liked, how many matched with you, how many replied. Then use Prioritized Likes only on women you would honestly like to meet, and write every message before a match to something specific on her page.
At the end of the week, compare. If matches and replies went up, the priority is doing something for you. If the numbers did not move, you have learned that attention was not what you were short of, and you can change the tier before the months add up.
Is Platinum worth it
Platinum makes sense for a man who already gets matches, reads his own results and wants to move faster. It makes less sense for a man hoping the tier will do the work his page is not doing.
Before paying for the top tier, spend two weeks on what costs nothing. Put your clearest face photo first, show yourself somewhere real, write one specific line about your life, and open every chat with something taken from her page. Then see whether more attention is what you actually lack.
