Open Tinder, go into Settings from your own icon, and select Tinder Plus. The same screen offers Tinder Gold and Tinder Platinum, so pick the one you mean. Tinder is available on Android and iOS and on the web at Tinder.com, and it accepts most credit and debit cards and PayPal, with Venmo on the web only. Options vary by location and device.
The steps
On your phone, open the app and tap the profile icon. Tap Settings. Then choose Tinder Plus, Tinder Gold or Tinder Platinum from the list.
Follow the prompts to pick a plan length and pay. What you see on the payment screen depends on where you are and which device you use, which is why Tinder says payment options vary.
If you would rather use a computer, the same subscription can be bought on Tinder.com. That is also the only place Tinder lists Venmo as a way to pay.
How you can pay
Tinder says it accepts most credit and debit cards and PayPal, and Venmo on the web only. Options vary by location and device, so a method you see on one phone may not appear on another.
If you buy through an iPhone or an Android device, Apple or Google bills the subscription and not Tinder. That matters later, because a subscription billed by a store is cancelled in that store, not inside Tinder.
What Plus includes
Tinder says Plus includes unlimited daily Likes and Unlimited Rewinds. It also includes Passport Mode, hiding advertisements and going incognito.
Read that list as a man with a result in mind. Unlimited likes mean you do not run out in a long session. Rewinds let you undo a swipe you made by accident. Passport Mode lets you set a different city. Hiding advertisements and going incognito are the two extras about comfort and privacy, not about reach.
None of it changes what a woman thinks when she sees your photos. Plus widens what you can do, and your own page decides what happens next.
Plus, Gold and Platinum
The three tiers stack. Gold includes everything in Plus and adds weekly Super Likes, a monthly Boost and seeing who Likes You. Platinum includes everything in Plus and Gold and adds Prioritized Likes.
Tinder is also free to download, and the free version lets you match, chat and connect. So the real choice is not whether you can use the app. It is whether you want a given extra enough to test it.
If you are unsure which one, think about where your bottleneck is. If you run out of likes, Plus helps. If you want to see who already liked you, that is Gold. If you want your likes to get a nudge, that is Platinum.
Whether it is worth buying
a dating coach has a clear view here. In the world of men studying dating there is a strong bias against ever paying for anything, the man who never buys a drink and calls it integrity. His read is that the bias keeps a lot of men from getting what they want, and that paying for apps is probably worth it in most cases, as long as it is not crazy expensive.
His reasoning is about how the business works. These apps are companies, they make money from paying members, and they have a reason to keep those members happy, which includes showing them to more people. That is his view of the incentives and not a published rule, but it fits the features Tinder lists.
His other advice is to test, tweak and test again. So treat a purchase as a test.
How to run the test
Before you pay, write down for one week how many matches you get and how many of them reply. Then buy one plan for one stretch of time and keep counting the same two numbers.
If the numbers go up, you know what it bought. If they do not, you have your answer for the cost of one month. Do it when you are free to use the app in the evenings, not in a week you are travelling.
Whichever tier you choose, remember who bills you. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel there. Deleting the app does not stop a subscription that a store is charging.
The short answer
Open Settings from the profile icon, pick Plus, and pay with a card, PayPal or, on the web, Venmo. Then spend your real effort on the same things as before: a clear first photo, a short line she can answer, and a plan you suggest within a few messages.
