When Zoosk is slow or will not load, the fault is usually on your side and not Zoosk's. Zoosk's own help center says most site and app problems clear up by refreshing your browser data or reinstalling the app. Work through the steps for your device in order, and if none of them help, the help center tells you to contact Customer Support. Until it works, protect the matches and messages you already have.
First, work out which kind of problem you have
There are two different situations, and they feel the same at the moment.
In the first, Zoosk itself is having trouble and every member is affected. You can do nothing about that except wait. In the second, something on your phone or computer is getting in the way, and you can fix it in a few minutes.
Nothing on your own screen can prove which one it is. A quick test settles most of it. Try the other way in. If the app is slow, open Zoosk in a browser, and if the website is slow, try the app. If one works and the other does not, the trouble is in the one that failed, which points at your setup and not at Zoosk.
Fixes for the website
Zoosk's help center lists these for the web:
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies. Old stored data is a common reason a page loads badly or loops.
- Update your browser. Zoosk recommends an updated Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
- Try a different browser. Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge are the ones Zoosk names.
Do them in that order, and test Zoosk after each one so you know which step worked. If you change three things at once, you will not know what fixed it, and you will have to repeat the whole list the next time.
Fixes for the app
For the Zoosk app on your phone, the help center suggests:
- Log out and log back in. This refreshes your account information.
- Uninstall the app and reinstall it. That gets you the latest version.
- Restart your phone.
Reinstalling sounds like a hassle, but it is the step that puts the latest version of the app on your phone. Have your sign-in details ready before you start, so you are not stuck at the login screen.
The VPN problem
Zoosk says a VPN can interfere with the site and the app. If you use one, turn it off, wait about five minutes, and try again.
The wait matters. Switching a VPN off and opening Zoosk a few seconds later often reproduces the same fault, since your connection has not settled. Give it the five minutes before you decide the fix failed.
Why Zoosk can feel slow even when it is working
A site that is working can still feel slow for plain reasons. A weak signal, a crowded evening connection, and an old phone with little free space all slow down any app. Your browser holding months of stored data does the same.
Before you blame Zoosk, try the same test on another service on the same connection. If a video also stutters, the connection is the culprit and Zoosk is fine.
If nothing works
If you have cleared your data, updated or switched your browser, reinstalled the app and turned off the VPN, Zoosk says to contact Customer Support. Write down what you tried and which device you used, so the first reply does not send you back through the same list.
Do not let a glitch cost you a conversation
A broken app is a good reminder of a rule a dating coach teaches for every app: do not leave a good conversation living only inside one. His method moves from a first line to an exchange of numbers in roughly four to seven short texts, so a woman you are enjoying talking to ends up on your phone's text messages and not only in one app's inbox.
That habit protects you in the exact case you are in now. If Zoosk is down for a day, a woman who has your number can still reach you, and you can still reach her. A woman who exists only inside the app is one outage away from disappearing.
Use the downtime on the part you control
When the app is stuck and there is nothing to do, spend the time on the part that decides your results. coach keeps coming back to testing: change one thing, watch the result, and change it again. Your photos and your first line are the two things worth testing.
Look at what you have been sending. If you have written to women and heard nothing for days, the app being slow is probably not the reason. A coach can read your conversations with you and show where they go cold, which is a faster fix than any reinstall.
