To block someone on Inner Circle, do it from that member's own page. Once blocked, they can no longer see your page, contact you or see your activity, and you can unblock them later from Preferences under Advanced settings. To report someone, use the report option and choose a reason. Inner Circle says it acknowledges a report within 48 hours and aims to resolve it within 14 business days.

How to block someone

Go to the profile of the member you want to block and choose the block option there. That is all it takes.

Inner Circle says a blocked member can no longer view your profile, contact you or see your activity. In plain terms, they cannot write to you, they cannot look at your photos again, and they cannot see what you are doing on the app.

Blocking is not permanent. You can unblock a member from Preferences, under Advanced settings.

You will need this less often than you might think, but it is good to know it is there. If you blocked someone in a moment of irritation and regret it once you have calmed down, you can undo it.

How to report a member

Reporting is for behavior Inner Circle should know about, not just behavior you did not enjoy. Use the report option, choose the reason that fits, and send it.

Inner Circle says it acknowledges a report within 48 hours and aims to resolve it within 14 business days. Pick the reason with care, because it tells the team what kind of problem they are looking at.

What to put in a report

A good report is short and factual. Say what happened, in the order it happened, in plain words. "She asked me to send money for a flight after two days of chatting" gives the team something to act on. A paragraph about how annoyed you are does not.

Stick to what the member actually did, not what you think of them. Choose the reason that fits most closely, even if none fits perfectly. Then leave it with Inner Circle. There is no need to tell the member you have reported them, and doing so only invites another round of messages you did not want.

Most bad moments on the apps need neither

Most unpleasant moments in online dating do not call for either tool.

A woman who stops answering, a reply of one word, a conversation that goes nowhere: none of that is misconduct. It is ordinary online dating. Let it go and put your attention on the women who are writing back.

Block when you want someone to have no further access to you. That might be a woman you dated who keeps writing after you have said it is over, or anyone who makes you uneasy. Report when a member breaks the rules, such as harassment, threats, a fake account, someone plainly advertising or selling, or anyone asking you for money. When it is both, do both.

Do not block out of wounded pride

The worst use of the block button is as a way to have the last word. A woman turns you down, or says something cutting, and a man blocks her so that he gets to end it.

It helps to remember that you are choosing too. There are other women on the app and plenty more away from it, and nothing hangs on any single conversation. A man who really believes that has no need to punish anyone for a no. He wishes her well, or says nothing at all, and gets on with his week.

Never answer a bad message with a worse one

If a woman sends you something rude, the reply that feels satisfying is almost always the wrong one. An insult back proves her point. It shows her, and anyone she shows it to, exactly the man she suspected she was dealing with.

There is a practical reason too. Inner Circle uses automated filters that flag offensive language for a person to review. A nasty reply can get your own account looked at, even when she started it.

So say nothing and let the conversation end, or block her if she keeps going. If what she sent crosses into harassment or threats, report it and let Inner Circle handle it. Either way you keep your dignity, and there is nothing in the chat you would mind anyone reading later.

If a woman blocks you

Sooner or later someone will block you, sometimes for reasons you will never know. Take it as the clearest answer there is and leave it there.

Do not go looking for her elsewhere, on another app, through a mutual friend or on social media. However reasonable it feels in the moment, it turns a small no into something she will remember for the wrong reasons. The man who shrugs and puts his attention on the next conversation loses nothing. The man who chases a block loses his standing with her and with anyone she tells.
