Nothing is sent to her. happn says that when you block someone, they do not find out. From that moment she can no longer see you on the app and cannot send you any more messages. You can block her by scrolling to the last section of her page and tapping Report and block, or from your conversation, using the three-dot button. Before you tap it, know that a block on happn cannot be undone.
She is not told
This is the part most men worry about, and the answer is simple. happn does not notify the person you block.
She gets no notice that you did it. You just stop being there for her. If she goes looking, she will not find you, and if she tries to write, she cannot.
What changes for her
Two things change for her, and both are total.
She can no longer see you. You drop out of her view on happn, so she will not come across you again there.
She can no longer send you messages, so there is no way left for her to reach you inside the app.
Two ways to block
The first way is from her page. Open it, scroll to the last section, and tap Report and block.
The second way is from a conversation. Open the chat, tap the three-dot button, and choose to block from there. That is the quicker route when someone you are already talking to becomes a problem.
The button on her page is called Report and block for a reason. If someone was abusive, threatening or looked like a scam, use the report side as well as the block, so happn hears about the account and not only you.
A block cannot be undone
happn treats the block as final, for safety and privacy. There is no unblock button.
The only route back happn describes is deleting your account and starting a new one. That costs you every Crush, every conversation and every crossing you had, and it still does not promise you will ever see her again. So treat the block as permanent, because it is.
When to block one of your matches
Blocking is the right tool when you want someone gone for good. A few cases call for it clearly.
She is rude, pushy or unpleasant, and you do not want to hear from her again. Something about the account makes you uneasy, like requests for money, links you did not ask for, or a story that does not add up. Or she is someone you know from work or your building, and you would rather she did not see you on a dating app at all.
In those cases, block without guilt. You owe no explanation, and happn does not send one.
Do not argue with her first. A long message explaining why you are about to block someone only gives her something to react to. If the decision is made, make it quietly.
When declining her is enough
Most of the time, a man does not need a block. He just wants to stop seeing someone, or stop a chat that has gone flat.
happn has a gentler tool for that. Tapping the X on her page declines her. She is not told, and you stop crossing paths with her on the app. The difference is that a declined person can still see you on her Map for a limited time at the place you last crossed. If that does not bother you, the X is enough, and it keeps the block for the people who have earned it.
A flat chat is not a reason to block. Conversations on the apps fade all the time, usually because one side lost interest or never got a clear plan. a dating coach's approach is to suggest a date within the first handful of messages, so the chat never gets long enough to go stale. If a woman stays vague twice, he lets it go. Let it go quietly. Blocking her helps nobody.
A calm habit
Because the block is permanent, give it a second before you tap. Make sure it is the right person and the right chat. Ask whether the X would do the job.
Then, when it really is the right call, block and move on. Your time is better spent on the women who are glad to hear from you.
