Yes, in most cases. Tinder lists hiding advertisements, or swiping ad-free, among the features of Tinder Plus. Tinder Gold and Tinder Platinum include everything in Plus, so they drop the ads too. There is one catch. A footnote on Tinder's subscription help page says some Plus subscribers may still see ads because of testing. Check the subscription details in the app to see exactly what your plan includes.
What Tinder says Plus removes
On a free account, ads show up on the swipe screen. Tinder describes Plus as a way to swipe ad-free, and it puts hiding advertisements on the list of Plus features.
The higher tiers carry the same promise. Gold includes everything in Plus, and Platinum includes everything in Gold, so ad-free swiping comes with all three paid plans.
The footnote worth reading
Tinder is honest about one exception. Its subscription help page carries a footnote saying some Plus subscribers may still see ads because of testing.
In plain terms, Tinder sometimes tries things out on a slice of its paying users, and ads can be part of that. So if you paid for Plus and still see the odd ad, it does not necessarily mean something is broken. You may simply be in one of those tests.
Tinder's advice is to check the subscription details in the app for what your plan includes. That screen, not a friend's account and not an old screenshot online, is the one that tells you what you are paying for.
Check before you pay
If ads are the main reason you are thinking about Plus, look at the plan details in the app before you buy. Read the list of what is included and see whether ad-free swiping is on it.
This takes a minute, and it saves you from paying for something you were hoping for rather than something you were sold. If the ad-free line is there and ads still appear, the subscription details screen is also the place to start before you contact Tinder.
What else comes with Plus
Ads alone are a thin reason to pay. Plus bundles a few other features, and some of them change more about your results than a cleaner screen.
Two stand out. Passport lets you set your location to another city, which helps a man who travels and wants to line up dates before he lands. Go Incognito shows you only to the women you have already liked, so every match is one you chose.
Boost is not one of the Plus features, so if a monthly Boost is what you want, Plus will not give you one. Match the plan to the features you would actually use every week.
Are the ads really the problem
Most men who want the ads gone are annoyed by the interruption. Fair enough. But the ads are rarely what stands between a man and a date.
What decides your results is what happens either side of the ad. How carefully you look at each woman before you swipe. What she sees when your card comes up. What you write after she matches. A man who swipes fast and writes "hey" gets the same results on Plus as he did on the free version, just without the ads.
So treat an ad-free screen as a small comfort, not a fix. If your free account is quiet, paying to remove the ads will not make it busier.
Use the calmer screen well
There is one real benefit to fewer interruptions, and it only helps if you use it. Without ads breaking things up, it is easier to slow down and actually look.
a dating program once put questions to a former Tinder employee, and one of the tips was to tap into a woman's page rather than judging her from the first photo. Plus makes that easier to do. Open her card, go through her photos, read what she wrote, and decide properly.
Then write to the women you match with as if you had read their page, because now you have. One line about a real detail beats a compliment every time. If her last photo is at a climbing wall, ask whether she is the kind of climber who plans every move or the kind who just goes for it.
Test it rather than guess
a dating coach's advice on any paid feature is to try it and measure it. He sees a stubborn habit among men who study dating, which is never spending anything on the apps at all, and in his view it feels principled while losing them results. He is also clear that paid features only add to what is already working.
If you buy Plus, count your matches and real conversations for the fortnight before and the fortnight after. The ads will be gone. Whether your dating life changed is a separate question, and the numbers will answer it.
