Open the Tinder app, tap the profile icon, tap Settings, then select Tinder Plus. Plus is one of three paid tiers, alongside Tinder Gold and Tinder Platinum, and all three are an upgrade on a free app that already lets you match, chat and connect. You pay for it with a card, PayPal, or Venmo on the web.

The steps

  1. Open the Tinder app.
  2. Tap the profile icon.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Select Tinder Plus, Tinder Gold or Tinder Platinum, whichever you want.

Tinder accepts most credit and debit cards and PayPal, plus Venmo on the web only. Which payment options appear depends on your location and your device, so the list on your screen may be shorter or longer than someone else's.

We are not quoting a price. It changes, and the number in your own app is the one that counts.

What Plus gives you

Tinder lists five things in Plus. Two are about volume: unlimited daily Likes and unlimited Rewinds. The others are Passport Mode, hiding advertisements, and going incognito so your page is hidden whenever you choose.

Notice what that list is. It is about volume and comfort. Unlimited Likes mean you do not run out of swipes. Rewinds let you undo a pass. Passport lets you look at another city. Incognito and the ad removal change how the app feels to use. None of them changes what a woman sees when your card comes up.

What Plus leaves to the higher tiers

Tinder Gold includes everything in Plus and adds weekly Super Likes, one Boost a month and See who Likes You. Platinum goes further again.

If what you actually want is to see who has already liked you, Plus is not the tier. That feature starts at Gold. Check that before you pay for the wrong one.

Is it worth it for you

The honest answer depends on your page, not on the app.

a dating coach treats paid features as multipliers. They show you to more people or in better positions, so they help a page that already earns matches and do very little for one that does not. If your cards get few likes today, unlimited likes will mean more swiping at nothing.

His coaching view on swiping is also worth keeping in mind. Liking everyone on autopilot teaches the app nothing useful and can make you look unselective. Plus removes the ceiling on likes, which makes it easier to fall into exactly that habit. If you get Plus, spend your likes on women you would honestly ask out.

The feature men overlook

Incognito is the one Plus feature that changes your own experience rather than your reach. Tinder says it lets you hide your page at any time. That is useful when you are busy for a week, or seeing someone and want to stop appearing in new stacks while you find out how it goes. You can turn it back on when you want to be seen again, so it works as a pause button without deleting anything.

When Plus makes sense

Plus makes the most sense for a man who already gets matches and keeps hitting the daily limit before the evening ends. It also suits a man who travels and wants Passport, or one who simply dislikes the ads.

It makes the least sense for a man whose problem is that matches do not turn into conversations. That problem sits in the photos and the first message, and neither is something a subscription changes.

Know how you will cancel before you pay

Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them, and the way you cancel depends on who billed you. An order number starting with MK means Apple billed you on an iPhone, GPA means Google Play, and TNDR means Tinder.com or a card paid directly inside the Android app. Buying through one route and trying to cancel through another is how men end up paying for months they did not want.

When the receipt arrives, save it and note which route you used. Deleting the app does not cancel anything, so put the cancel date in your calendar if Plus is only meant to cover one trip or one month.

Try the free app properly first

Before you buy, give your page two weeks of honest work.

Put a clear, recent photo of your face first, with nothing covering it. Add a couple of photos of you at real places, doing something. Write one specific line in your bio that she could ask about. Then open each chat with something taken from her page, not a greeting.

Count how many matches you get and how many of them reply. If the numbers are healthy and the limit is what stops you, Plus is a reasonable purchase. If they are poor, you have found the actual problem, and you have found it without spending anything.
