A like on Badoo is a tap from another member's account, so it is as real as the account behind it. Most come from real people. Some come from fake or abandoned accounts, because that is true on every dating app. We found no statement from Badoo about fake likes, so we will not make one up. Likes turn into matches when you tap back, and a fake one wastes the messages you send, so test each like before you spend time on it.
What a like is
Every woman who likes you lands in the Likes tab, the heart icon. Tap the heart on any of them and you have a match, because she already said yes.
On the free version you can see that likes have arrived, but the faces are blurred. Premium shows who sent them. So a free man is looking at a count he cannot check, which is why this question comes up so often.
What Badoo says about fake accounts
Badoo's help center says a team works around the clock to watch for fake accounts, spam and unsafe activity. It also says an AI tool called Deception Detector flags and prevents scams, with a human moderation team behind it.
That tells you Badoo knows fake accounts exist and works against them. It does not tell you what share of likes are fake, and Badoo gives no such figure. a dating coach counts fake accounts and bots among the everyday irritations of online dating, and they exist here as they do everywhere.
Real does not mean interested in meeting you
A real like can still be weak. A like costs one tap and nothing else, and some women tap the heart on everyone who looks decent. So ask whether the woman behind the like will answer you and turn up, as well as whether the like is real.
A real woman who liked you on Monday and has not opened the app since is real and useless. The dots next to a photo help here. Green means online now, red means online within the last few hours, and grey means offline. A like from a grey dot has more chance of being old.
Five checks on a like
- Open her photos. A few clear ones with a face beat one glossy picture.
- Look for the blue checkmark. Photo verification means the person in the photos is the person who took the selfie. It proves nothing else, and many real women skip it.
- Read what she filled in. An empty page that liked you is the likeliest fake or abandoned account.
- Write one specific line. A real woman can answer a question about her own photo. A bot sends something generic, or a link, or asks to move to another app.
- Ask for a short video call before a date. Real women agree, and fake ones always have a reason not to.
Never send money, and never send an explicit photo to someone you have not met. A story that ends with a request for money is the same script on every app.
What the free count can tell you
Even blurred, the count is useful. If new likes show up most days, women are responding to your photos. If they barely appear, you have learned that your lead photo needs work, and you learned it for nothing.
Do not buy Premium just to look at faces. Buy it, if you do, because the free count shows likes are arriving and you want to choose among them. My point is that a paid feature multiplies what you already have, and it multiplies nothing as faithfully as it multiplies a lot.
Likes you send
Likes you send have a real cost too. Votes in Encounters have a daily limit, and the limit refreshes 24 hours after you reach it. a dating coach warns that an app treats a man who likes almost everyone as less attractive, so liking back every woman on the list works against you.
Choose among your likes the way you choose in Encounters. Heart the women with full pages and recent photos, and pass on the rest.
How to judge it in two weeks
Count three numbers: likes received, likes you could verify as real women with a decent page, and conversations that became a plan. A high first number and a low third one means the likes are cheap, or your first line is weak.
If real women with full pages like you and answer, Badoo is working in your city. If the likes are mostly empty pages and grey dots, the pool is thin or noisy, and your time belongs on another app.
