The most common reason a Plenty of Fish profile does not show up is that it is hidden. A hidden profile does not appear in any search results, and you can undo it from the same Edit Profile screen where you set it. If it is not hidden, the next things to check are your location, since search shows people near you, and whether you have uploaded any pictures at all.

Check whether it is hidden

Plenty of Fish lets you hide your profile from Edit Profile. While it is hidden, nobody finds you through search, however good the page is.

Go to Edit Profile and look for the hide setting. If it is switched on, switch it off. This is the one most men miss, because they flipped it during a break or tapped it by accident while scrolling, then forgot.

If you cannot remember hiding anything, check anyway. It takes ten seconds, and it is the only cause that makes you invisible to everyone at once.

Your location decides who sees you

Search on Plenty of Fish shows people near you. It uses your current location, or the zip or postal code you gave at sign-up if your location is turned off.

That has a plain consequence. If your location is off and the zip code on file is from the town you lived in two years ago, you are appearing in the search results of women there and nowhere near where you live now. Fix the location, or update the zip or postal code, and the right women start to see you.

The app says your exact position is never shown to other members. So giving it your real location costs you nothing, and it is how you end up in front of women you could actually meet this week.

What an upgraded membership changes

An upgraded Plenty of Fish membership includes showing up first on Meet Me.

That is worth understanding properly. It changes where you sit in the order, not whether you are in the pool. A free account that is visible still appears. A paid one appears earlier. So paying will not fix a hidden page or a wrong location, and it will not rescue pictures that give a woman no reason to stop.

Fix visibility first, for free. Then decide whether being shown earlier is worth the money, based on whether the women who see you now respond.

Add pictures before anything else

Pictures are uploaded from your Profile: tap Upload Images and follow the instructions. A page with no pictures gives women nothing to look at, and it tends to be skipped.

Choose them with care. a dating coach's rule is that a woman judges you by your worst photo, because she assumes it is the honest one. If you have three good ones and one mediocre one, remove the mediocre one. When you are unsure about a photo, leave it out.

Lead with a clear one of your face in daylight, without sunglasses and without a crowd around you. Women should be able to tell in a second which man in the picture is you.

Once you show up, make the bio worth reading

Being visible gets you into the results. It does not get you chosen.

My point about standing out applies here. Most women are passing on far more men than they like, so a page that is merely acceptable gets lost among a hundred others. Write a bio that says one specific thing about your life, such as what you do on a weekday evening or a food you will argue about, and end on a question she can answer in a sentence.

He also says to be on more than one app if a single one is slow, because different apps suit different cities. Keep your page on Plenty of Fish active, and put the same effort into a second app while you are fixing this one.

Check it as a stranger would

When you have made changes, look at the page from outside. Ask a friend near you to search for you, or search for a profile like yours at your distance and age. If he can see it, you are done with visibility, and every remaining problem belongs to the picture and the bio.
