The Visitor tier is Lox Club's free membership, and its help center lists exactly five things in it. You get access to its events in major cities and to the Boost feature. Your account stays active in case you subscribe later. You also get a question-and-answer date game called Josie's Game, and the newsletter. Notice what the list does not mention. Matches and messages are not on it, so if you are used to swiping for free on other dating apps, do not assume the Visitor tier works the same way. Treat it as a way to stay involved without paying, and put most of your attention on the events.
The five things on the list
Lox Club's help center lays the Visitor tier out plainly.
Access to IRL events in major cities. Access to the Boost feature. An active profile, kept ready in case you subscribe later. Josie's Game, which Lox Club describes as a Q&A date game. And the newsletter.
That is the whole list. Anything not on it, assume it belongs to a paid plan until the app shows you otherwise.
What the list leaves out
The help center does not say the Visitor tier lets you match with members or message them. It may be tempting to assume it does, because that is what most people picture when they hear free membership on a dating app. Do not build your plans on an assumption.
The simple way to find out is to open the app on the free tier and see what you can and cannot do. Then decide whether the missing parts are worth a paid plan.
The events are the real value
Of the five items, the events are the one that can put a date on your calendar without spending anything on the membership.
a dating coach puts this well. He argues that the biggest thing money buys a man in dating is access: being in the rooms where eligible women already are. A Lox Club event in your city is exactly that kind of room, and on the Visitor tier you get it without paying for a subscription.
Access is only half of it, though. A room full of interesting women does nothing for a man who stands by the bar waiting for someone to talk to him.
How to make an event worth going to
Go in planning to talk to people, not to watch.
Arrive early, when the room is small and it is easy to start a conversation with whoever is next to you. Talk to men as well as women. A man who is clearly at ease with everyone in the room is more attractive than one who only lights up when a pretty woman walks past.
When you do talk to a woman you like, keep it about her and about the moment. Ask what brought her there, notice something specific, make her laugh if you can. If it is going well, do not let the evening end with a vague plan to find each other on the app. Ask for her number and suggest a drink later in the week. Skipping that step is how a good conversation at an event turns into nothing.
This is a skill, and it gets easier with repetition. Every event is practice for the next one.
Josie's Game, Boost and the newsletter
The other three items are smaller, and Lox Club's help center names them without much detail.
Josie's Game is described as a Q&A date game. Boost is listed as a feature Visitor members can access. The newsletter is simply listed as included. Look at each one in the app to see exactly how it works for you before you count on it for anything.
If events are your main reason for staying on the free tier, keep an eye on the app and on anything the club sends you, so you hear about each one in time. Missing an event you would have enjoyed wastes the best part of a free membership.
Keep your account ready
The Visitor tier keeps your profile active in case you subscribe later. Use that time well.
Put up recent, clear photos from several different days, and make the first one a plain, well lit shot of your face. Write a few lines about what your week actually looks like, specific enough that a woman could picture it. If you do upgrade, you want the paid weeks spent on dates, not on repairs you could have made while the account cost nothing.
When to pay
Paying makes sense once you know you want what the free tier leaves out. Lox Club sells three, six and twelve month plans, with no monthly option, and accepted members pay through Apple or Google. Every plan renews for the same length until you cancel.
Until then, the free tier costs nothing and the events can do real work for you. Go to them, talk to people, and see what happens before you spend anything.
