A workshop usually teaches you something in a room, over a few hours, with other men. A bootcamp puts you in the field with a coach, approaching real women, for one to three days. Information is what a workshop gives you. A bootcamp gives you repetitions with someone correcting you in the moment. Since approaching women is a physical skill, like learning to swing a bat, the difference matters more than it first looks.
What to know first
- A workshop is usually short, taught to a room and mostly talk. Formats vary, so check the schedule.
- A ColdApproach.io Bootcamp is in person in Miami or New York. Each training day is two four-hour blocks in the field.
- Group is three consecutive days at a 3:1 student to coach ratio. Private is fully 1-on-1 for one, two or three days.
- A bootcamp teaches with live coaching on every approach and feedback after every set.
- You leave a bootcamp with a written practice plan and access to the community Slack.
What a workshop is good for
A workshop works when you want to understand an idea. A few hours with a good teacher can explain how conversation tends to move, what women notice about a man's delivery, or how to think about rejection. You hear the concepts, ask questions and meet other men who want the same thing.
It is also a cheaper and shorter way to test whether you like the subject. If you are curious and not yet sure you want to commit, a workshop can be a reasonable first step.
What a workshop cannot do
A workshop cannot make you do the thing. You can understand a concept completely and still lock up when a woman walks by. The gap between knowing and doing is the exact problem most men have, and a room does not close it.
a dating coach describes his own experience of teaching body language and finding the same result. He and his colleagues taught students every gesture to avoid and every one to use. The students did more of the bad ones, because thinking about their bodies made them more self-conscious, and the good ones came across as fake. Information alone did not change what they did in front of a woman. What helped was practice.
A workshop also cannot watch you. Nobody in the room sees the thirty seconds when you talk without letting her speak. Nobody tells you after the set what to change.
What a bootcamp adds
Real approaches. You spend hours a day talking to women in the places they are: streets and cafes by day, bars and lounges at night. Each training day mixes daygame and nightgame to suit you.
Live correction. The coach stands near you and corrects each set while the moment is fresh. "Sometimes major mistakes you're making in the field can be corrected with literally one comment," says a dating coach, and that works because he saw it happen.
Work on your own sticking points. Every training day covers four parts as they come up: approaching and conversation, attraction and delivery, numbers and dates, and rejection and follow-through. A workshop covers what the teacher planned. A bootcamp covers what you need.
Time. A Group Bootcamp is 24 hours in the field over three days. A Private Bootcamp is one, two or three days, with longer programs available on request. That is far more time spent approaching than a workshop usually includes.
How to choose
Pick a workshop if:
- You want to understand the basics before spending more.
- You are mostly after ideas, discussion or company.
- Your problem is knowing what to do, and you already act on what you know.
Pick a bootcamp if:
- You know roughly what to do and you do not do it.
- You lock up before you walk over, or you lose women in the first thirty seconds.
- You have read, watched and listened for a long time with little to show for it.
If you recognize yourself in the second list, a bootcamp is the better use of your money. The first thing that changes is how it feels to walk up, and a workshop cannot change that.
Group or Private
Both are in the field. Group has no more than three students per coach, so you also see the coaching other men get. Private is just you and your coach. If being watched by other men is what worries you, Private removes it. Dating Workshops, Online Courses and Bootcamps for Men compares a bootcamp with the other options.
Questions men ask
Can I do a workshop first and a bootcamp later?
Yes. Many men learn a little, then realize they need practice. The bootcamp has no skill floor, so you do not need a workshop before you book.
Is a workshop cheaper?
Usually it is a smaller purchase. Cost per hour of real approaching is a better way to compare, and a workshop often gives you very few of those hours.
Does a bootcamp include classroom teaching?
The program is built in the field, and the coaching happens around each approach. It is not a lecture.
What happens after a bootcamp?
You go home with a written practice plan and access to the community Slack. A follow-up call is not part of the package. Men who want a coach to keep reviewing them can look at the Mentorship.
