Interested in You is a paid OkCupid feature that lets you look through the members who have already sent you a Like or viewed your page. OkCupid used to call it See Who Likes You. After you subscribe, you refresh the page or close and reopen the app, and the Interest tab appears. Without a subscription you are still told for free when you and another member both Like each other.
What you see after you subscribe
Once the feature is on, your Interest area has four tabs: Interest, Intros, You Like, and Viewed You. The Interest tab is the one people mean when they ask what "interest" means on OkCupid. It is the list of members who showed interest in you before you showed any in them.
If you subscribe and the tab is not there, do what OkCupid's own help page says. Refresh the page on desktop, or close the app completely and open it again.
The list holds two different things
This is the part most men skip. The list mixes members who sent you a Like with members who only viewed your page. Those are not the same signal.
A Like is a decision. She looked, she chose, and she told you so. A view is a look. She may have seen you in Discover, tapped out of curiosity, and moved on. Treat the first as a yes and the second as a maybe, and you will answer the right women first.
What you get for free instead
You never pay to find out about mutual interest. When two members Like each other, OkCupid tells both of them at no cost. If she Liked you first, a pop-up appears when you Like her back. If you went first, you get a notification when she returns it.
So the free account shows you who Likes you at the moment the interest becomes mutual. The paid feature shows you earlier, before you have spent a Like.
How to use the list well
The list is only worth reading if you act on it.
- Start with the women who sent a Like. They have already said yes.
- Like the ones you would genuinely be glad to meet. If a Like was already waiting, yours makes it mutual and the conversation opens.
- Write a first message about something specific on her page, in a line or two she can answer in a sentence.
- Come back to the viewers later. A view is a reason to look at her page properly, not a reason to message her.
a dating coach's target is to get from the first message to her number in four to seven exchanges, and to mention a drink early as a light suggestion. A woman who Liked you first is the best possible starting point for that, because she is already leaning toward yes.
What the free account shows you instead of the list
Even without the feature you are not blind. OkCupid still always lets both people know for free when you both Like each other. The difference is timing. Free shows you the Like when it becomes mutual, and the paid list shows you the interest before you have spent anything.
That matters for how you choose to spend your Likes. On a free account, every Like you send is a small bet that she will send one back. With the list, some of those bets are already won, because you can see who has already said yes.
Do not read too much into the list
A long list feels like proof that you are doing well. It may be, but it only shows that women noticed you. What matters is how many of those turn into replies and dates.
An empty list tells you something too. If nobody is Liking you or viewing you, a subscription cannot fix that. The first picture a woman sees and the first lines she reads are what decide whether she stops on you. My blunt version of this is that a boring, average page gets the average result, which is no matches at all.
Is this feature worth paying for by itself?
Interested in You is one of the main reasons men buy OkCupid Premium, and it is a good reason if women are already Liking you. It saves you the browsing and the waiting, and it puts the warmest conversations at the top of your day.
If your free account is quiet, spend the first two weeks improving what women see before you pay to see who looked.
