Start with the two you can check today. Tinder says it is available in most countries and names only Russia and Belarus as exceptions. Facebook Dating lists Vietnam among its countries. Our material does not rank the dating apps Vietnamese women prefer, and guessing would do you no favors, so the rest of this article shows you how to find the best app for your own city.

The two you can check today

Tinder is the simplest place to begin. Vietnam is not on the short list of countries where it has ended access, so the account you already have should open and work after you land.

Facebook Dating is the other. Its help page lists Vietnam beside Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. Being in a listed country is only one condition, because Facebook can also restrict which accounts get Dating. Open the app and look for it before you build a plan around it.

Hinge, Bumble and other apps publish availability pages of their own. Read those, and treat anything you read in a forum as a lead to confirm.

Why a list of countries is only a start

Being listed for a country does not mean an app has users on your street. A man in a quiet district can open a perfectly legitimate app and see the same dozen faces.

So spend two or three evenings looking. Set your location to where you actually are, add your best images, and watch how many people appear. If the stack runs dry within a day, that app is a poor use of your evenings in this city, and the experiment cost you almost nothing.

Ask people who live there

The best guide to what is used locally is somebody who lives locally. Put the question to residents of a few years, to colleagues, to anyone dating. If a name comes up that you do not recognize, install it and give it the same short trial.

Treat any ranking you find online with care, this one included. Rankings go stale fast, and they seldom describe a single city.

Language, and keeping it simple

Women on an app that locals favor will often write in Vietnamese. If you cannot read it, part of the conversation is lost, and a woman more at ease in her own language may let a message in English alone slide.

Decide who you are trying to reach. A few honest lines in two languages show effort, and a handful of learned phrases will help. Claiming more fluency than you have is a poor idea, since the first voice call will expose it.

Write short, plain messages. A witty English paragraph is difficult to translate and easy to get wrong.

Be clear about what you want

Tell her early whether you live in Vietnam or are passing through, and for how long. If she finds out on day four that your flight leaves next week, she will feel she was not told, and you are the one who loses the date.

Your purpose deserves the same honesty. If you want something serious, say so. If you want something casual, say that. a dating coach's reasoning is that a straightforward page filters well, because the women who like it want what you want.

Scams and safety

Every country has dating scams, and Vietnam is no exception. The signs are familiar. A match hurries you onto another platform. She always has a reason to avoid video. Sooner or later she needs money for something sad and urgent.

Never send money to someone you have not met. A short video call before your first meeting settles whether she is real. Choose a busy, public place that is easy for both of you to reach and to leave, and tell a friend where you are going.

Keep the first date easy

Suggest a place that is simple for her to reach and simple to leave, in daylight or early evening, with other people around. Arrive early, keep your phone in your pocket, and plan a single coffee or drink, not a long dinner. A short plan lets both of you stay on if it goes well and part politely if it does not.

Confirm the plan the day before, in plain words, so that nothing depends on guessing. If she has to ask where you mean, the plan was not clear enough.

Run a two-week test

Pick two apps, keep your effort the same on each, and tally chats opened, plans made and dates held. Be choosy about whom you like, because an app that sees you like everyone tends to show you fewer of the women you want.

After a fortnight the numbers give the answer. Keep the app that produced more dates and drop the other. If neither did, look at your lead image and your first message before you blame the country.
