Start with Tinder, which says it is available in most of the world and names only Russia and Belarus as exceptions, and with Facebook Dating, whose help page lists Thailand. Then test them in your own city for two weeks. Our material does not rank the dating apps Thai women prefer, and a made-up ranking would be worse than none, so this article gives you the way to find the answer yourself.

Start with the apps you already know

Tinder is the easy first stop. It says it is available in most countries, and Thailand is not one of the two it has closed. That means the account you already use will open and work when you land.

Facebook Dating names Thailand on its list of countries. Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines are on that list too. Availability depends on more than the country, because Facebook can also restrict which accounts get Dating, so open it and see before you count on it.

For Hinge, Bumble and any others, use each app's own availability page. Do not rely on a forum post from two years ago.

Bangkok is not the rest of Thailand

Bangkok is often ranked first in Asia for meeting women, partly because of the huge number of visitors the city gets. That is useful context. It tells you the apps will be full of people in Bangkok, and it also tells you that many women there have already talked to many foreign men.

Outside the capital the pool is smaller, the language is more local, and the way women use the apps may differ. Treat each city as its own test. A result in one place says little about the next.

Say whether you are visiting or staying

The most useful sentence you can put on a page abroad is a plain one. Say whether you are a resident, or visiting and until when.

A woman who learns after three messages that you fly home on Sunday may feel misled, and that costs you the evening. Saying it early filters for women who are happy with that, and it saves both of you time. a dating coach's general point about online dating is that an honest, clear page filters well, because the women who like it are the ones you want.

Money and the wrong kind of attention

A man who shows off a foreign lifestyle on an app abroad attracts attention, but not always the kind he wants. Photos that lean on cash, hotels and nightlife draw people interested in the lifestyle, and the interest rarely lasts past it.

Show your normal life instead. A café you like, friends, something you do on a weekend. Our own guide to Thai women makes the same point: money should support your lifestyle, not replace your personality.

Be clear about what you want as well. Thailand tends to be more conservative in public than Western hookup culture, and loud sexual talk in a first message reads as rude, not confident.

Check who you are talking to

Every country has accounts that are not what they say. The cheapest defense is a short video call before you travel across a city to meet someone.

Treat any request for money as the end of the conversation. That includes a medical bill, a phone top-up and a fee to see you. If a match pushes you quickly to another app, or always has a reason not to speak on video, you have learned what you needed.

Keep the first meeting easy and public

Suggest a place that is simple for her to reach and easy to leave. A café, a rooftop bar or a dinner with a friend nearby all work. Do not arrange a late, private first meeting.

Arrive early, put the phone away and let her set the pace. Do not mistake friendliness for interest. Women in Thailand, as everywhere, are often warm and polite, and a smile is not an invitation. If you want to know, ask her clearly and take the answer calmly.

Write simply

If English is not her first language, short sentences win. Skip slang and long jokes that depend on a pun. One clear question about something she wrote is better than a clever paragraph she has to translate.

Once a plan is agreed, you can ask which messaging app she likes, such as LINE, so the plan does not get lost. Wait until she has said yes to meeting, and accept it gracefully if she would rather keep talking in the dating app.

Run a two-week test

Install two apps and give each the same amount of attention for a fortnight. Keep a tally of chats opened, plans agreed and dates held.

Be selective about whom you like, because a dating coach's view is that an app judges you as less attractive when you like everyone. When the two weeks end, keep whichever app produced more dates for the same effort, and trust that over any list.
