This page cannot see the dating app's servers, so it cannot tell you live. What you can do in a couple of minutes is find out whether the problem is on Badoo's side or yours. Badoo's help center keeps a troubleshooting article that lists the issues the team knows about. Its own first suggestions are about your connection and an out-of-date app.

Check Badoo's list of known issues first

Badoo's help center has a troubleshooting article that lists the issues the team is aware of and working on. Read that before you do anything else. If your problem is on the list, no setting on your phone will fix it.

One entry is worth knowing. Badoo notes a login issue where the CAPTCHA verification screen can appear blank after you enter the email security code. It looks exactly like an outage, because you simply cannot get in. Badoo lists it as a known problem, and says there is no workaround for it.

Rule out your connection

A weak or unstable connection causes more "Badoo is down" moments than Badoo does. Badoo recommends a few quick checks.

  • Make sure you have Wi-Fi or a stable mobile data signal.
  • Toggle Airplane Mode on and off.
  • Try a different Wi-Fi network, or switch to mobile data, to see whether the problem follows you.

If Badoo loads on mobile data and not on your home Wi-Fi, the problem is your network. If it fails everywhere, move on.

Open another app on the same connection, such as a browser or a video. If those load and Badoo does not, the problem is narrower than your network. Then try Badoo another way: on mobile data if you were on Wi-Fi, or at badoo.com in a browser if the app is the thing misbehaving.

If Badoo works in a browser but not in the app, the fault is in the app on your phone, and the steps below will usually clear it. If it fails every way you try, check Badoo's list of known issues again and then contact Support.

Update or reinstall the app

Badoo says outdated app versions can lead to glitches or crashes. Open the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android, search for Badoo, and see whether there is an Update button. If there is, press it.

If the app still misbehaves after updating, reinstalling is the next step. Make sure you remember how you log in first, because you will need the same phone number, email address or linked account.

Close it, reopen it, log out and back in

If the app is stuck or half-loaded, fully close it from your list of recent apps and reopen it. On Android you can also go to Settings, Apps, Badoo and tap Force stop.

Logging out and back in refreshes your session. Tap your profile icon, then Settings, scroll down and tap Log out. Close the app completely, open it again and log back in.

Clear the cache, turn off the interference, restart

On Android, Badoo suggests clearing the cache under Settings, Apps, Badoo, Storage. If that is not enough, Clear Data is a further option, and it does not delete your account.

Badoo also says to try turning off battery saver, VPNs and ad blockers for a moment, since they can interfere with how the app connects. Last, restart the phone. If none of it works, contact Badoo Support, and tell them every step you tried.

What not to do while it is down

Do not delete the account in frustration. Deleting is not a fix for a technical fault, and it removes the matches and conversations you built. Do not make a second account either.

A few hours without Badoo costs you very little. Use the time on work that no outage touches. Answer the conversations you already have on other apps. Send a message to a woman you were meaning to follow up with. Or do the one thing an app can never do for you, which is talk to a woman in person.

Keep your main conversations moving toward a phone number early, so that a down app does not stop a promising chat. coach tends to ask for a number within a handful of messages and ties the ask to a plan.

Keep your login methods straight, too. A man who knows exactly which email, phone number or linked account he used to sign up recovers from a logout in a minute. A man who does not can lose an evening.
