Nothing that we can find ended it. Badoo is still run by Bumble Inc., the company behind Bumble, and its help center still documents accounts, Premium, Credits and verification. When Badoo seems to have vanished, the cause is usually one of four things: your city is quiet and you see few matches, you cannot log in, your account was blocked, or the app is acting up. An article cannot see what changed this week, so check the live app store page and Badoo's own help center before you believe anyone, this page included.

What we can say about the company

Bumble Inc.'s annual report to the SEC lists Badoo among the apps the company operates, next to Bumble, Bumble For Friends, Fruitz and Official. The two are sibling apps, and neither owns the other.

The report describes Badoo as the older of the two dating apps and one of the pioneers of free-to-use dating. It also says Badoo remains a market leader in several countries in Europe and Latin America. That last line matters for the rest of this page, because an app can be very busy in some places and close to empty in others.

Why it feels like it disappeared

Nobody around you talks about it. Men in their twenties in a city where Tinder, Hinge and Bumble dominate will tell you Badoo is dead, and they are describing their friends, not the company.

a dating coach says the same app can be busy in one city and thin in the next. If you open Encounters and see few women, old photos and empty details, the likeliest story is that your area is quiet, not that Badoo closed.

If you cannot log in

Badoo's own troubleshooting page lists a known problem: after you enter the email security code, the CAPTCHA screen can appear blank. It looks exactly like an outage because you simply cannot get in. Badoo says there is no workaround for it.

Before you decide the account is gone, try every way in. Use the phone number, the email address, or the Google, Facebook or Apple account you signed up with. Badoo also says being inactive for a long time does not delete an account, and neither does deleting the app from your phone. A forgotten account from two years ago is probably still there.

If your account was blocked

Badoo blocks an account when it thinks the account broke its Community Guidelines or looks unsafe. It says a team works around the clock to watch for fake accounts, spam and unsafe activity. An AI tool called Deception Detector flags scams, backed by human moderators. So software can flag an account before a person has looked at it.

If that happened to you, the fix runs through Badoo's Support, not through a new sign-up. A fresh account will not answer why the first one stopped working.

If the app is just misbehaving

A weak connection causes more "Badoo is down" moments than Badoo does. Badoo's own suggestions are to check you have Wi-Fi or a stable mobile signal, switch Airplane Mode on and off, and try a different network or mobile data.

If it loads on mobile data and not on your home Wi-Fi, the fault is your network. If it fails everywhere, read the known issues list in the help center.

If you left on purpose and want back in

Some men ask because they deleted the app and cannot find it. Badoo's help center has a page on recovering an account, and the rule from above holds: try every sign-up method before you give up. Check how your page looks too. An old account still carries your old photos, your old city and your old age, and a woman will see that version of you first.

Update the photos, confirm the city and run the photo verification again before you vote on anyone.

A two-minute check

  1. Search for Badoo in your phone's app store. A closed app has no store page.
  2. Open Badoo's help center and read the known issues.
  3. Try to log in with each method you might have used.
  4. Open Encounters and look at the first twenty women. Are the photos recent and the details filled in?

If the answers are yes, yes, yes and no, Badoo exists and your city is the issue.

If it is only quiet where you live

Do not throw away a month. My advice is to run more than one app and let your own results decide. Keep Badoo for two weeks of short daily sessions, then count the women you liked, the conversations that started and the dates you set. If the count is flat while another app gives you dates, put your time there.
