For learning how to meet women, yes, usually. A year on the apps gives you a lot of tries and almost no feedback, so a man can spend twelve months repeating the same mistake without seeing it. A Bootcamp puts a coach next to you for every day of training, watching what you do and correcting it while it is fresh.

It does not replace the apps, and it does not promise a result. It teaches the thing the apps never will: how to be a good conversation partner with a real woman, in front of you, right now.

What to know first

  • The apps are good at volume and bad at feedback. A Bootcamp is the reverse.
  • Cold approach is not better than the apps at everything. It is better at building the live skill.
  • A Group Bootcamp is $3,000 for 24 hours of coaching in the field.
  • The skill you build carries onto the apps and onto every first date.
  • The strongest plan is usually both: the apps for reach, the live skill for results.

What a year of apps actually gives you

Twelve months on a dating app is a lot of evenings. In that time you will write a profile, choose photos, trade text with many women and go on some dates. That is real experience, and some men get exactly what they want from it.

The trouble is what you do not get. Nobody tells you why a conversation died. You see a reply that never came, and you guess. If your photos are the problem, you do not know. If your texts are the problem, you do not know. If you are a strong writer and a nervous talker, the app will never show you.

a dating coach argues that online dating has also become harder as it has been optimized. His comparison is to online poker: as the best players learned how to extract more from the game, the average player did worse, until the game was close to unbeatable for the amateurs. We cannot prove his theory here, and you do not have to accept it to see the point. A tool everyone optimizes is a tool where an average approach gets average results.

What field coaching gives you

A Cold Approach Bootcamp is in person, with two four-hour field blocks per day. Group runs three consecutive days and Private runs one, two or three. You approach real women in real places, daygame by day and nightgame at night. Your coach watches each approach and tells you what he noticed before you go again.

That feedback loop is the thing. You hesitate, he sees it. You open well and then interview her, he sees that too. You miss that she was interested, he points it out while the moment is fresh. Each eight-hour day of this means a large number of approaches, and each one comes with a correction instead of a guess.

You also leave with a written practice plan: what is working, what needs attention and where to focus. That plan is yours to follow after the coach has gone.

Where each one wins

Reach: the apps. They show you many women you would never meet otherwise, with little effort.

Feedback: the Bootcamp. A coach sees what you cannot see in yourself.

Speed: the Bootcamp, for the live skill. Concentrated practice with correction moves faster than scattered attempts.

Cost: it depends. A year of paid app tiers is a recurring charge. A Group Bootcamp is a single $3,000 payment. We make no claim about what apps cost, because prices vary and change. Add up your own spending for a fair comparison.

Pressure: the apps. You can try from your sofa. A Bootcamp asks you to do something hard in public.

Results: neither is a promise. Coaching gives you feedback, practice and a plan, and what you do with them is yours.

Is cold approach better than dating apps?

It is a different tool. Cold approach is walking up to a woman you do not know and speaking to her. It is better than apps at building comfort with women, at showing you chemistry fast and at making you less dependent on a screen. It is worse at reach and at convenience.

Many men do best by learning the live skill and keeping the apps. A man who is comfortable in a conversation writes better texts, asks for a plan sooner and handles a first date more calmly.

When a Bootcamp is the better use of the next year

  • You have been on the apps for months and your results have not changed.
  • You are good in text and awkward in person.
  • You know what you should do and cannot see what you actually do.
  • You are tired of the screen and want a skill you can use anywhere.
  • You have approach anxiety and want coached steps.

When the apps are enough

If you are meeting women you like, getting dates and enjoying it, you may not need a Bootcamp. The point is not to prove that apps are bad. It is to avoid spending a second year on a method that is not working for you.

Group or Private

Group is three consecutive days with no more than three students per coach, $3,000. Private is you and one coach, for one day ($1,750), two days ($3,000) or three days ($4,000), with longer programs quoted on request. Beginners are welcome in both. Group or Private Dating Bootcamp: Which Should You Book? helps you decide. The sessions run in Miami and New York.

Questions men ask

Can I keep using the apps during and after a Bootcamp?

Yes. Many men do. The live skill makes the apps work better.

Do I need experience first?

No. There is no skill floor, and a man who has never approached a woman is welcome.

Is a Bootcamp worth the money?

It is worth it if you want feedback on what you do in front of a woman.

What happens after the Bootcamp?

You leave with a written practice plan and community Slack access. A follow-up call is not part of the package. Men who want ongoing coaching can look at the Mentorship.
