A dating bootcamp is not a scam just because it costs thousands of dollars, and it is not safe just because it has a website and photos. It is a scam when you cannot say what you are buying, who will coach you, how many hours you get, and what happens if your plans change. The seven checks below let you answer all of that before you pay anyone, including us.
For each check, you will see how the Cold Approach Bootcamp answers it, so you can compare our answers against any other program you are looking at.
What to know first
- A legitimate bootcamp can tell you its price, its hours, its coach-to-student ratio and its refund rules before you pay.
- A bootcamp should sell coaching, practice and feedback. It cannot sell you a girlfriend.
- Read what is left out of the package as carefully as what is in it.
- If an answer to any check below is vague, ask for it in writing.
Check 1: Is the price public?
If a program will not show you any price until you have been on a sales call, that is a reason to slow down. Prices you can read in advance let you decide at your own pace and compare options.
Cold Approach shows both Bootcamp formats and their prices on the Bootcamp page. You choose a tier and check out. There is no account to make and no call you have to sit through first. Longer private programs are quoted when you ask, and the page says so.
Check 2: Can you count the hours you are buying?
"Three days of coaching" can mean three eight-hour days or three evenings of two hours. Ask for the number.
Each Cold Approach training day has two four-hour coaching blocks. Group Bootcamp is 24 hours across three days. Private Bootcamp is 8, 16 or 24 hours, depending on whether you book one, two or three days. Longer private programs are available if you ask.
Check 3: Is a coach next to you while you approach?
A classroom is not a bootcamp. The skill you want is talking to women, and you learn that by doing it with someone watching.
On a Cold Approach Bootcamp the work happens in the field: streets and cafes by day, bars and lounges at night. Your coach is there for the approaches, tells you what he saw afterward, and sends you back out to try the adjustment. a dating coach says it plainly: "I don't believe in vague advice like 'just have fun' or 'be yourself.'"
Check 4: How many students share each coach?
The ratio decides how much attention you get. Ask for a number, and ask whether it is a maximum or an average.
Group Bootcamp is capped at three students per coach. That is a maximum. Private Bootcamp is you and one coach. The Group coach's attention is shared, so the twenty-four hours are group training hours, not twenty-four hours of private instruction per student. That is the trade-off, and the page says so.
Check 5: Does it promise a result?
This is the check that catches the most scams. Nobody can promise you a number of dates, a girlfriend or a change in how women respond to you, because the result depends on what you do afterward.
A fair promise sounds like ours: live coaching on every approach, feedback after every set, and a written practice plan at the end. Cold Approach does not promise an outcome from the Bootcamp. If a program does, ask how it will prove that to you in writing.
Check 6: Are the refund and rescheduling rules written down?
Look for the rules before you pay, not after. A good policy tells you what happens if you cancel early, what happens if you cancel late, and what happens if the company cancels.
Cold Approach publishes its rules on the refund policy page. They depend on how far ahead of your start date you cancel, and they say what happens if we cancel a program. Read them before you buy and email hello@coldapproach.io if anything is unclear. The Bootcamp FAQ also covers what to do if your plans change.
Check 7: What does the package leave out, and what will you be offered next?
Every program has edges. Ask what is excluded, what costs extra, and what the company will try to sell you after you finish.
Here is our list, so you can compare it with anyone else's.
- Included: in-person field coaching, direct feedback between interactions, a written practice plan, and continued access to the community Slack.
- Not included: a follow-up call after the program.
- Optional and separate: Infield Filming for $350, where a coach films you for one hour and reviews the footage with you.
- What we may offer next: the Mentorship, our online program with weekly 1-on-1 video calls. Some men start with the Bootcamp and then continue there. You do not have to, and the Bootcamp stands on its own.
What a red flag looks like
Put the checks together and the warning signs are easy to spot.
- You are asked to book a sales call before you can see any price at all.
- The hours, the ratio or the coach are described only in general terms.
- The sales page leans on a promised outcome.
- The cancellation terms are missing or hidden in a long document.
- The package has an open-ended list of "bonuses" with no clear limits.
Questions men ask
Are dating bootcamps legitimate?
The checks above work on any program, because a real one can answer each of them in a sentence.
Why does a bootcamp cost so much?
You are paying for a coach's time. For Cold Approach that means two four-hour blocks a day with a coach working on your approaches, plus a written plan afterward. Private costs more than Group because the coach's attention is only yours. Our article on what a dating bootcamp costs shows where the money goes.
Can I see what happens before I pay?
Yes. What Happens at a Dating Bootcamp? walks through the days, and the Bootcamp page shows the pricing and the FAQ.
Do I have to be experienced?
No. No prior approach experience is required, and approach anxiety is what the program specializes in.
