Without Premium you get a daily limit on votes in the Encounters tab, and Badoo's help center does not state the number. When you reach it, Badoo tells you that you have run out of votes. The limit refreshes 24 hours after you hit it, and Badoo Premium gives unlimited votes, so a paying member never meets the wall.

Any exact figure you read elsewhere is a guess or has gone out of date. Plan around how the limit behaves, not around a number.

What a free like is

In Encounters, Badoo shows you one person at a time. You tap the heart to like her or the cross to pass. Those taps are the votes, and the daily limit applies to them.

If she has voted for you too, you have a match and can chat right away. So a free like is the first half of a match, and a limited number of them is a limited number of chances in a day.

What free does not give you

The free side has two other limits worth knowing about.

First, the Likes tab shows people who have liked you, but without Premium their pages are blurred. You know someone liked you, and you cannot see who. Premium shows everyone who liked you and their full pages.

Second, there is no unlimited voting. That is the whole difference between free and Premium in Encounters. Everything else about the vote works the same.

Why the limit is not a disaster

A cap sounds like a handicap, and for most men it is not. A man who votes on everyone gets a long list of women he has no interest in, and a handful of conversations that go nowhere.

a dating coach's teaching on online dating is that it is a numbers game, but a winnable one, and that the men who lose are watching the wrong numbers. The number that counts is not how many hearts you tapped. It is how many matches turned into replies, how many replies turned into numbers swapped, and how many of those became dates.

A limit forces you to spend votes where they count. That is a skill, and the free side teaches it.

Spending a limited day

Decide who you are looking for before you open the app. Then vote yes only on women you would take for a drink this week.

coach also warns that voting yes on almost everyone works against you. In his view the app reads that as a sign you are not selective, and he says men who stopped doing it saw better results from fewer votes. Treat that as his observation and test it for yourself: pick two weeks, vote selectively in one, and compare your matches.

Keep the second half of the work in mind too. A match is only the start. Once you have one, write a first message that mentions something specific from her page, and aim to get to a plan while the conversation is still fun.

When Premium makes sense

Do not buy it because the limit annoyed you once. Buy it when the numbers say it will pay.

If you reach the limit every day, and your votes are turning into matches, and your matches are turning into dates, the cap is costing you real chances. My advice on paying for dating apps is that refusing to spend on principle is a hindrance, and that it is usually worth it when it is working and you have tested it. If you reach the limit but your votes bring nothing, more votes only give you more of the same result. Fix your photos and your first message first.

Track your own day

Write down how many women you voted yes on, how many matches that gave you, how many replied, and how many became plans. After a week, you will know whether the free limit is holding you back or whether something earlier in the chain is.

Most men find it is something earlier. That is good news, because photos and openers are things you can change this afternoon, at no cost.
