The card does not decide how you cancel. Tinder's steps depend on who billed you, and your order number tells you: MK means Apple billed you on an iPhone, GPA means Google Play billed you, and TNDR means Tinder billed you directly. Revolut only supplied the card number, so find the order number first and cancel with whoever it names.

Find the order number

Tinder sorts its cancel instructions by where you bought the subscription, not by which card paid for it. A Revolut card can sit behind any of the three routes.

Search your email for the receipt that Tinder, Apple or Google sent when you subscribed. The order number is printed on it. If you cannot find the email, the charge in your Revolut app is a second clue, because the merchant name on it usually points at the company that billed you. The prefix is the real answer, so go back to the receipt when you can.

If it starts with TNDR

TNDR means you bought on Tinder.com, or you paid with a credit card directly inside the Android app. In both cases Tinder is the one who cancels it.

On a computer:

  1. Go to tinder.com and log in.
  2. Tap the profile icon.
  3. Select Manage Payment Account.
  4. Find the subscription and tap Cancel Subscription.

On Android, if you paid directly with a card or PayPal, the steps are the same from inside the app. Open Tinder, tap the profile icon, choose Manage Payment Account, find the subscription and tap Cancel Subscription.

For a card or PayPal payment, Tinder also suggests reaching out to your card company or PayPal Support if you need more help. Here the card company is Revolut.

If it starts with MK or GPA

Then Tinder did not take your money, and it is not the place to cancel. MK means Apple billed you, so you cancel in the subscription settings on your iPhone. GPA means Google Play billed you, so you cancel in the subscriptions section of the Play Store.

This catches a lot of men out. They look in the wrong place and assume the subscription has ended without ever checking. It has not. Whoever billed you is the only one who can stop it.

Deleting the app is not cancelling

Tinder says deleting or uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. Subscriptions renew automatically until they are canceled. Removing Tinder from your phone is a tidy gesture that changes nothing about the billing.

The same goes for deleting your account. If you plan to leave Tinder altogether, cancel first, confirm it, and only then think about deleting anything.

Check the result afterwards. Open the screen you cancelled from and look for the subscription showing as cancelled. Take a screenshot and put the order number in a note on your phone. If a charge still appears on your Revolut statement later, you will have something concrete to show whoever you contact.

Before you cancel, ask what Plus did for you

Plus includes unlimited daily Likes and unlimited Rewinds. It also includes Passport Mode, hiding advertisements and going incognito. None of those changes what a woman thinks when she sees you. Unlimited Likes means more swiping, and more swiping only pays if the page she lands on earns a match.

a dating coach treats paid features as multipliers. They put you in front of more people, so they help a page that already works and do very little for one that does not. If you paid for Plus and your matches did not move, the cause was almost certainly your photos or your first message, not the tier.

Treat your page as a test rather than a verdict

a dating coach compares a dating page to marketing. A marketer who gets poor results does not decide the product is hopeless. They change the headline, the picture and the order of the sections, one at a time, and watch what moves. Men tend to do the opposite. They set a page up once, get a weak response, and decide either that the app is broken or that they are.

A subscription can hide this. When you pay, you expect the money to do the work, and you stop changing anything. Cancelling frees you to go back to the part that matters: edit one thing, wait a few days, look at the result, and keep the edit only if it helped.

Three fixes worth a week before you decide

If the plan still has days on it, use them on the things that decide results.

Put the clearest photo of your face first. a dating coach's rule for the lead photo is blunt: it should be the best picture of your face anyone has ever taken. A hidden face or a group shot where she cannot tell which man is you loses most women before the second photo.

Open with one specific thing from her page. A town she mentions, her dog, a hobby. "Hey" gives her nothing to answer, and a line about something she chose to show gives her an easy reply.

Suggest a plan once the chat has some warmth. A particular evening and a place nearby turns a pleasant exchange into a date. Without a plan, one of you usually drifts away.

If you try all three and nothing moves, you cancelled for a good reason. If something does move, you have learned where your results were coming from, and it was never the tier.
