A Super Like is aimed at one woman: Tinder prioritizes you for the single person you send it to. Priority Likes works on everything you send. It is a Tinder Platinum feature that helps all of your Likes and Super Likes get seen faster, before the Likes of people who do not subscribe. It does not replace Super Likes, and Tinder says it does not promise your Likes will be seen.

One woman or every woman

The simplest way to hold the difference is to ask who each one is for.

A Super Like is for one person. You choose her, you send it, and Tinder prioritizes you for her alone. Every other woman you Like that day is unaffected.

Priority Likes is for everyone you Like. You do not decide when to use it. Once you are on Platinum, it applies to every Like and every Super Like you send, and it gets them seen ahead of the Likes from people who do not subscribe.

How you get each one

Super Likes come two ways. You can buy them in packs, or you can get them free each week with Tinder Gold or Tinder Platinum.

Priority Likes comes one way: it is a Tinder Platinum feature. So a man on another plan can still get Super Likes, one way or the other, but only a Platinum subscriber has Priority Likes.

How they work together on Platinum

On Platinum you have both, and they stack. Tinder says Priority Likes helps your Likes and your Super Likes get seen faster. So a Super Like sent from a Platinum account keeps its priority for that one woman, and it also gets the same speed boost as the rest of your Likes.

That raises a fair question. If all your Likes are already being seen sooner, how much does a Super Like add on top?

What a dating coach makes of the combination

a dating coach has answered that from his own use. He is not convinced a Super Like gets a man matched much more than an ordinary Like. He is even less convinced when the man already pays for Platinum or uses Boosts. Once you are being put in front of women sooner anyway, the star adds little in his experience.

He is far more positive about Platinum itself, which he has said is worth paying for. So if you are on Platinum, treat the weekly Super Likes as optional. On My reading, the priority on your ordinary Likes is doing most of the work.

Which one suits you

Priority Likes suits a man who Likes women carefully and wants each of those Likes to reach her early. It runs in the background. He does nothing differently, and every careful Like gets a slightly better chance.

A Super Like suits a man who now and then sees a woman he has a specific reason to talk to and wants to stand out to her. It is an occasional, deliberate choice, and it only works well when he already has an opener in mind.

Plenty of men need neither. If your ordinary Likes rarely turn into matches, neither feature fixes that.

If you are on Gold

A man on Tinder Gold already gets free Super Likes every week. What he does not have is Priority Likes, so his real question is whether to move up to Platinum for it.

The honest way to answer is to look at where your matches come from. If most of them start with women who Liked you first, the speed of your own Likes is not what is holding you back, and Priority Likes will change little. If most of them start with women you Liked first, and you are careful about who those women are, being seen sooner is aimed at exactly the part of the app you rely on.

My advice for any paid upgrade is to test it rather than argue about it. Try Platinum for a month and leave everything else alone, so the upgrade is the only thing that changed. Then compare how many of the women you Liked matched with you. If the number clearly rose, the upgrade is paying for itself. If it did not, go back to Gold and keep using your weekly Super Likes on the rare woman who deserves one.

Which one gets you more matches

Neither one changes what she thinks of you. Both change when she comes across you, or how noticeable you are when she does.

Once she sees your card, she decides on your photos and what you wrote, the same way she would decide on any man. Priority Likes and Super Likes can bring a good first impression to more women, or bring it to them sooner. If the first impression is weak, both of them just bring the answer faster. Work on the card first, and then decide which of the two is worth paying for.
