Neither is better in general, because they sit on different apps and speed up your likes in slightly different ways. Tinder Platinum adds Prioritized Likes, which Tinder says make your Likes and Super Likes seen faster by a potential match. HingeX, which people also type as Hinge X, adds Priority Likes plus two feed features. Pick the tier on the app where women are already answering you.
The two tiers side by side
| Tinder Platinum | HingeX | |
|---|---|---|
| What it includes below it | All Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold features | Everything in Hinge+ |
| Likes | Unlimited daily Likes (from Plus) | Unlimited Likes (from Hinge+) |
| Undo | Unlimited Rewinds (from Plus) | Unlimited Undo Skips (from Hinge+) |
| Seeing who liked you | See who Likes You before you decide (from Gold) | See all incoming Likes at once (from Hinge+) |
| Getting your likes noticed | Prioritized Likes, so Likes and Super Likes are seen faster | Priority Likes, toward the top of her Likes You list for a limited window |
| Getting your page noticed | A Boost included on eligible plans (from Gold) | Get Seen by More Daters, an always-on lighter Boost |
| Feed sorting | Not described | See Compatible People Sooner |
| Extras | Weekly Super Likes, Passport Mode, hiding advertisements, incognito mode | Advanced filtering such as height, education, politics, drinking and smoking |
How the likes features differ
The two like features look alike and are not the same.
Tinder says Prioritized Likes make your Likes and Super Likes seen faster by a potential match. Hinge says Priority Likes keep your Likes toward the top of a woman's Likes You list for a limited window, after which they count as regular Likes. On Hinge they look the same as regular Likes to the person receiving them.
Hinge also says Roses sit above Priority Likes. On Hinge, the one thing that outranks your paid Like is a Rose, and a Rose is a different feature with its own limits.
What only HingeX adds
Two HingeX features have no match in the Tinder list above.
See Compatible People Sooner looks at common preferences. It also looks at recent activity, such as who you liked or skipped. It moves people Hinge thinks you will like toward the top of your Discover feed.
Get Seen by More Daters keeps your page more visible while you subscribe. Hinge says it does not override other daters' preferences.
Both change what you are shown or who sees you, rather than how fast your like gets there.
What only Platinum includes
Tinder's list is longer on the personal tools. Plus gives you Passport Mode, hiding advertisements and incognito mode. Gold adds weekly Super Likes and seeing who Likes You before you decide.
If you travel and want to look at women in another city, or you dislike the ads, those lines matter to you. For a man who just wants more dates from the city he lives in, they matter less.
What the two companies actually promise
Read both promises closely, because they are smaller than the names suggest.
Tinder says Prioritized Likes make your Likes and Super Likes seen faster by a potential match. Faster is the promise. It is not that she will like you back, and it is not that she will see every Like.
Hinge describes HingeX's features without promising a number of matches or dates. Its Priority Likes look the same as regular Likes to the woman receiving them, and its Get Seen by More Daters does not override other daters' preferences.
So both tiers sell speed and visibility. Neither sells a result. The price you see on your own screen is only worth paying if your own count of dates says it is.
Which fits which man
Pick Platinum if your problem is that the women you like never see your like. A man who is selective, sends a small number of likes to women who are realistic for him, and hears back a decent amount is the man for whom being seen sooner has value.
Pick HingeX if your problem is the feed. If you spend your time in Discover rather than in your incoming likes, being shown higher and seeing better sorted people is the part you would notice.
If your free account gets almost nothing back on either app, neither tier is the fix. a dating coach compares every paid tier with a free account. He tells men to do that only if the free profile is already getting some results. Zero multiplied by a million is still zero.
Settle it with a test
a dating coach's method is to run a paid tier and a free account against each other and compare the results. In his experience a paid Tinder tier returns more than a free account, and Platinum more than Gold, for the plain reason that the app promises to show you more when you pay.
Do the same for a week on each app. Record likes sent, matches, replies and dates with the free version. Then repeat with the paid tier, keeping your photos, your standard and the hours you use the app. Compare dates, not matches. The tier that produces more dates is better for you, whatever either company's help page promises.
