Not that Hinge describes. Its help center lists the ways to chat as sending a written reply, sending an emoji, or liking a reply from someone you matched with. Voice Notes come in once you have matched. No image sending appears anywhere on that list. What she sees of you is your profile.

What chat does let you send

Hinge's own description of chat is short. You can send a message. You can send an emoji. You can like a message your match sent. You can also reply to a specific message and show a quoted preview of it.

Once you match, you can record a Voice Note. Tap the microphone at the bottom of the chat, speak, and send it. Hinge removed its Voice and Video Calling feature and points members to Voice Notes or messaging instead.

That is the full set. If you came looking for a paperclip button, there is not one in Hinge's list.

Nothing you send can be pulled back

One more rule matters here. Hinge says you cannot delete a single message. Unmatching removes the whole conversation.

So whatever you send in the chat stays there. That is one more reason to be sure before you send anything personal. Say it in words you would be happy to have read back to you.

Where she actually looks at you: your profile and prompt answers

If chat has no photos, the whole job falls to your page. That is where she decides whether to like you back and whether to answer you.

a dating coach's description of a strong set is simple. You want photos where you look your best, photos where you look high value and popular, and photos where it looks like you have an interesting life. All of that belongs on the page before she ever opens a chat.

So when a man asks about sending photos in chat, the real question is usually whether his page needs more. If it does, change the page. A photo you can only show her after she already likes you is a photo that is not helping you get liked.

Your prompt answers do the other half of the work. A photo shows her what you look like. Your answers show how you talk, and a small story gives her something to reply to, which is what turns a like into a chat.

When she asks for more of you

It will happen sometimes. She says she wants to see more of you, or asks for a recent picture.

You do not have to solve it inside Hinge. Chat is a step toward the date, and the usual step is to swap numbers once the conversation is warm. My point about the apps is that men chat for days and never get her number or make plans, and then her account goes inactive. Moving to text is where most of that gets fixed.

My texting rules also say texting is not only letters. It includes photos, memes, voice messages and emojis, and a little of that adds personality. Once you are on text, a relaxed photo of something you did that week does more than another line of words.

What not to send

Never send anything explicit. Hinge's Prohibited Content page is clear. Nudity and sexually explicit images are not allowed. That covers photos, videos and written responses, on a profile or in chats. A woman who gets an unwanted picture can report it.

Beyond the rules, it simply does not work. An explicit photo gives her nothing to answer and tells her what kind of man you are. Keep your first photos to the ones she can look at over coffee.

Use a Voice Note when words are not enough

If what you want is for her to know more of you, a Voice Note does it inside the app. She hears your tone and your humor, and a joke that looks flat in text lands as warmth.

Say a little about your week, one real detail, and end with a question or a small plan. Keep it short and give her something to answer. A good one runs well under a minute. My rule of thumb for long messages is to send them as a voice message, or pick up the phone, because they carry more than a long block of text.

If a woman wants proof you look like your pictures, the answer is the date, not a gallery. A relaxed plan to meet for a drink settles the question faster than any set of messages and photos could.

The short answer

You cannot send photos in a Hinge chat, so far as Hinge's help center describes. Chat covers messages, emoji, likes on a message and Voice Notes after you match.

Put your best photos on your page, move to text when she is clearly interested, and send nothing explicit. Hinge does not allow it.
