Yes, in two ways. Facebook sends a notification in the Facebook app when someone likes or messages you in Dating. A person who adds you as a crush appears in your Liked You tab. Once you like her back, you match and can chat. Your Dating conversations stay inside Dating and do not appear in Messenger.
How likes work
In Dating, you send likes and messages to people you are interested in. When someone likes you back, you match and can start chatting.
You get a notification in the Facebook app when someone likes or messages you in Dating. Open it, look at her page, and decide.
A like from her is an invitation, not an order. Look at her photos and what she wrote, and like her back only if you would want to meet her.
What a crush shows
A crush is different from a like. When someone adds you as a crush, she can see that you were added, and your profile appears in her Liked You tab, as Facebook describes it. Likewise, if you add a woman as a crush, your page appears in her Liked You tab.
So the Liked You tab is where crushes land, and your notifications cover ordinary likes and messages. We explain the feature in our guide to how Secret Crush works on Facebook Dating.
What you can send before a match
You can only message a suggested match further once she replies or sends a like back. Before that you get one careful note.
That limit is worth respecting. Pick one specific thing in her photos, write a line or two about it, and end on something she can answer easily. A stack of follow-ups gets ignored.
Where the conversation lives
Dating conversations appear in the Matches tab inside Dating. They do not show up in Messenger.
This matters if you are looking for a reply. If you check Messenger and see nothing, open Dating and look in Matches. It also means you can keep this chat apart from your ordinary Facebook messages, which many men prefer.
Why you may not see a like
Several things can explain a quiet screen.
You may not have notifications on for the Facebook app. Turn them on and check your phone settings.
Your photos or page may need work. A woman decides on your page before she acts, so a weak first photo means fewer likes.
The pool in your area may be small. Facebook Dating builds suggestions from your preferences, your details and your activity on Facebook, so it varies between places.
If likes are few, look at your page first. a dating coach's rule for every app is to test and let the results decide.
Turning a like into a date
A like is a warm start. She chose you before you chose her, so her interest is highest at the moment you match.
Reply fast and keep it short. Find one thing on her page and write a light line about it. coach writes first messages quickly, usually within about a minute, and avoids a plain "hey," which wastes the warmest match you will get.
Keep the next few replies about as long as hers. Ask a question she will enjoy answering. Within a handful of messages, suggest a specific plan: a coffee, a walk, a drink on a day you name.
Be picky about whom you like back
Men who learn they have likes sometimes like back every woman. Then their chats fill with people they were never going to take out, and the good ones get less attention.
Pick a short list of women you are genuinely curious about. A conversation you leave hanging pulls attention away from ones that matter. My advice is to set your bar a little higher online than in person.
What mutual friends mean
Dating can suggest friends of friends, and it keeps your Dating page separate from your Facebook profile. A woman who shares a friend with you can learn something about you, and you about her.
That helps a decent man and hurts a careless one, since behavior can travel. Be kind, answer politely, and take a no well.
The short version
You can see who liked you through notifications and the Liked You tab for crushes. Like her back if you are interested, reply quickly with something specific, and move toward a plan. Check Matches inside Dating for your chats, since they do not appear in Messenger.
