No. Bumble does not show when a match is online or when they last used the app, so there is no "active now" dot and no "last seen" time on anyone's page or in your chats. That holds whether or not incognito mode is switched on.

What Bumble's help pages say

Two of Bumble's own support pages cover this. The page on conversations says Bumble does not show read receipts or your online or activity status, and that it leaves those out so chats feel comfortable and low-pressure. The page on incognito mode repeats the point: there is no active-now or last-seen indicator, regardless of whether incognito mode is on.

So there is no online indicator to find in your chats. Premium does add something close: its Liked You list has a "Recently active" tab, which shows members who liked you and are online now or were online recently.

What incognito mode does and does not do

Men sometimes assume incognito mode is the thing that hides their activity. It is not, because there is no online indicator in your chats to hide.

Incognito mode is part of the Bumble Premium and Premium+ subscriptions. When it is on, your location is hidden and you only appear to people you have liked. If you do not send someone a like, you do not show up for her at all. That is useful if you would rather not be seen by a coworker or an ex. It has nothing to do with online status. With it on or off, there is still no last-seen time in your chats.

Why you are better off without it

The question usually comes from one place. A match has gone quiet, and you want to know whether she is on the app, talking to other men, and skipping you.

Suppose Bumble did show it. You would see she was active an hour ago with your message still unanswered, and you would feel worse without learning anything you could act on. She might have opened the app to answer a friend, glanced at a notification, and closed it. Activity is not interest, and it is not a reply.

The missing indicator also protects you. She cannot see that you opened Bumble six times this evening. You get to look as busy and unbothered as you should be.

The signals you do get

Bumble gives you a few real pieces of information, and they are worth more than a green dot.

  • Her replies. How long they are, how quickly they come, whether she asks you anything back, whether she picks up the idea of meeting.
  • An ended chat. If a match unmatches you, she has ended the conversation, which tells you more than any online dot could.
  • A match that vanished. Matches that expire, and accounts that were deleted or blocked, drop out of your list. That is the app doing its housekeeping, not a verdict on your last message.

Everything else is guessing. A man who guesses less sends better messages.

What to do instead of checking

Write messages that are easy to answer. A specific question about something she said beats "how's your week going," because she can reply to it in ten seconds from a bus stop. An easy message gets answered the next time she opens the app, whenever that is.

Reply on your own schedule, too. Since there is no online indicator in your chats, you never have to answer the second her message arrives just to avoid looking like you are ignoring her. Answer when you have a minute and something worth saying. A thoughtful reply an hour later beats an instant one that says nothing.

Keep your own use of the app steady. Half an hour on most days works better than one long session on a Sunday. Replies come in spread out, and you have time to answer each woman properly instead of juggling ten chats at once.

Suggest a plan earlier than feels natural. Once there is some real back-and-forth, propose meeting. Bumble lets you send a voice note or start a video call without sharing your phone number. A woman who has heard your voice is much more likely to follow through than one you have only typed at.

When she really has gone quiet

Give it a few days, then send one light follow-up that stands on its own. A callback to something from earlier works, or a clear suggestion of a time to meet. If that gets nothing, leave it and spend your attention on the women who are answering.

Do not go looking for her elsewhere to see whether she is around. Searching out her social accounts to check whether she has been posting is the same urge as wanting an online dot, and it ends the same way. You feel worse, and you are no closer to a date.
