Only with a paid plan. Bumble says your phone's GPS decides your location and that your general location cannot be customized, so there is no free setting that turns distance off. Incognito Mode, which comes with Premium and Premium+, hides your location, so you can still swipe and get matches, but only the people you have liked first ever see you. Anyone you have not liked never sees you at all.
What Bumble says about your location
Bumble's help page on location is blunt. Your phone's GPS decides where you are, and other members see you based on real-time location. You can edit the city shown under About you in Edit profile, and you can set a hometown, but your general location stays tied to the phone.
So changing the city on your page changes the words on your page. It does not move you in the app's eyes, and it does not hide how far you are from her.
What Incognito Mode does
Incognito Mode hides your location and shows you only to people you have liked. If you do not send someone a like, you do not appear to them.
To turn it on, tap the profile icon, tap the Settings gear, and switch on Incognito mode. You can switch it off the same way whenever you like. It is part of Premium and Premium+, so it costs a subscription.
The hiding is a side effect of a bigger change. You stop being something she can stumble across and become something she only sees if you picked her first.
What Travel Mode does and does not do
Travel Mode comes up in every search for this, so it is worth being exact. It needs Premium or Premium+, and it shows you profiles from another place for a set number of days.
Bumble's pages disagree slightly on how to describe it. Its list of paid features calls Travel Mode a way to change your location, while its Travel Mode help page says it does not change your actual GPS and that you are only in that place virtually. Follow the help page. Travel Mode is for looking at people somewhere else, such as before a trip, and it is not a tool for hiding how far you really are.
What Bumble never shows
Bumble says it does not show when members are online or when they last used the app. There is no "active now" and no "last seen", whether or not Incognito Mode is on. If your worry is that someone can see when you were last around, the app already leaves that out.
Should you hide it at all
Think about why you want to. If the concern is running into a coworker, a neighbor or an ex, Incognito Mode solves that, because they cannot see you unless you like them first. That is a reasonable use.
If the concern is that you live a bit far from most of the women you see, hiding the number does not fix the problem. She will find out the real distance when you suggest a place to meet. a dating coach's advice on the apps is to keep every conversation pointed at a date, and distance is a logistics question that a plan answers. Pick a spot near her, keep it short, and the number stops mattering.
The cost of Incognito Mode
Incognito Mode costs more than the privacy it buys for most men. Because you only show up to women you liked, you give up the chance that a woman who fits you finds your page on her own.
My experience with the paid options on the apps is that they work best when you are already getting some results, since they multiply a profile that is working. Hiding that profile from everyone you have not liked cuts the other way. Use it for a specific reason and turn it off when the reason is gone.
What to do instead
If the distance itself is the issue, widen or narrow your own filters rather than trying to hide. Bumble says you can change your distance filter in the countries where it is available, and that expanding your search area can introduce you to more people.
If the issue is privacy, keep your last name, your workplace and your street off the page, and let Incognito Mode handle the rest for the weeks you need it.
