Yes, if you are in the US. You buy a Tinder gift card at tinder.com/giftcard, and the card can be given or redeemed for one month of Tinder Gold. The person you give it to redeems it on the same page with the card number and PIN, and it works only if they do not already have an active subscription.
How the gift works
You buy the card online at tinder.com/giftcard. Tinder sells these in the US, so this is a US purchase.
The recipient goes to the same address, types in the 19-digit gift card number and the 4-digit PIN, and logs into their own Tinder account. After that the month of Gold is theirs. Nothing about it needs a card on file from you.
Tell them to log in with the account they actually swipe on. Gifting a month to a login they never use is a small waste.
The one thing that blocks it
Tinder says a card cannot be redeemed while the recipient has an active subscription. They have to cancel it and wait for it to expire before the card will work.
That changes who you should give this to. A friend who already pays for Tinder would have to let his paid time run out first, which makes the gift feel like homework. A friend on the free version has no such problem.
If you are not sure which he is, ask before you buy. It takes one text.
The card does not expire
Tinder says its gift cards do not expire. So the recipient does not need to redeem it the day it arrives.
That is good, because the month starts when the card is redeemed, and when it starts matters. A month of Gold is best spent when he has free evenings, since the point of the feature is to reply to women who already liked him. Handing the card over a week before he leaves on a work trip is a gift he cannot use well.
If the card does not work
For a problem with a gift card, Tinder points people to its gift card partner, Blackhawk Network, using the details printed on the card. Keep the card and any receipt until the month has been redeemed.
Check the number and PIN twice before you assume the card is bad. A long string of digits is easy to mistype by one.
Is a month of Gold a good gift for a guy
It depends on what is holding him back. Tinder lists Gold as everything in Tinder Plus, plus weekly Super Likes, one Boost per month, and the ability to see who Likes You.
a dating coach's point about paid features on dating apps is that they multiply results he already has. A man who gets some matches for free can learn something from one paid month. A man who gets none will not, because a multiplier of zero is still zero. If the friend you have in mind is in the second group, the better gift is an afternoon of your time and a phone camera in good daylight.
If he is in the first group, Gold is a real test. He sees who liked him, answers the women who did, and finds out whether the paid month changes how many conversations he starts.
Keep it light. A short note such as "a month of Gold, use it when you have free evenings" does the job, and it avoids the weight of "this will fix your dating life".
Offer to help him set up for the month if he wants it. A friend can look over his lead photo and his first lines before the card is redeemed, which does more than the subscription does by itself.
Gifting to a woman you are interested in
Do not do this. A subscription handed to a woman you have just met reads as buying your way into her attention, and she did not ask for a dating app perk from a stranger. The gift is for a friend, a brother, or a man who has told you he wants to try it.
The short answer
You can gift Tinder Gold with a US gift card, and the recipient has to have no active subscription to redeem it. Give it to a friend who has asked for it or who matches a little already, and tell him to start the month when his week is open.
