You redeem it on Tinder's website rather than in the app. Go to tinder.com/giftcard, type in the gift card number and the PIN printed on the card, and log into your Tinder account. The card gives you a month of Tinder Gold. The only thing that stops it is a subscription you already have running, because Tinder will not let you redeem a card while one is active.
Where you enter the card
The whole process takes a couple of minutes if you have the card in front of you.
- Open a browser on your phone or computer and go to tinder.com/giftcard.
- Enter the gift card number and the PIN exactly as they appear on the card.
- Log into the Tinder account you actually use, with the same login you use on your phone.
Type the numbers slowly. A long string of digits is easy to get wrong by one, and one wrong digit is enough to make a good card look like a dud. Tinder sells these cards in the US, so if someone bought yours there, this is the page it was made for.
If you already pay for Tinder
This is where most redemptions go sideways. Tinder says you cannot redeem a gift card while you have an active subscription.
So if you are already on a paid plan, the order matters. Cancel the subscription first. Tinder's instruction is then to wait for it to expire, and only after that to redeem the card. In practice, the time you already paid for runs out before the gift month begins.
Put a reminder in your calendar for the day your current plan ends. The card will still be there, and you will not pay twice for the same month.
The card does not expire, so choose your month
Tinder says its gift cards do not expire. That hands you a choice most men waste. The month starts when you redeem, so you decide when it starts.
Do not redeem it the night you get it just because it is sitting on the counter. Redeem it at the start of a month when you are home and your evenings are mostly free. You want to be able to say yes to a Thursday drink without moving three things around. A month of Gold during a run of work trips buys you plenty of conversations you never have time to finish.
Get the account ready before the month starts
The paid tiers put you in front of more women. They do nothing to what those women see when you appear. So the money multiplies whatever your account already does, good or bad.
Before you type in that code, spend an evening on the free fixes. Put your clearest, most recent photo of your face first. Cut the two weakest pictures, usually the dark bar shot and the one where sunglasses hide half your face. Replace any line that just lists adjectives with one concrete thing about your week, something she could ask you about.
a dating coach says the same about online dating in general: test something, change it, and test again. A gift card month is a good test window, but only if the thing you are testing is already your best effort.
Spend the month on conversations, not on swiping
A month goes quickly. What decides whether it was worth anything is how many women you actually talk to and meet. The number of cards you flicked through tells you nothing.
A few habits make the difference:
- Open the app for a short session most days instead of one long binge on a Sunday.
- Like women you would genuinely take out, not everyone who appears.
- Answer a new match the same day, with a question about something real in her pictures rather than a bare hello.
- Once she is plainly enjoying the chat, suggest a specific plan with a place, a day and a time.
Men who treat the paid month as a contest end it with a long list of matches and no dates. Men who treat it as a month of short conversations that go somewhere end it with a few evenings booked.
Judge the month by dates
When the month runs out, you will have to decide whether to keep paying. Answer with numbers, not with a feeling.
Count three things. How many matches you got, how many turned into a real back-and-forth, and how many of those became a date. a dating coach is openly against the reflex of never paying for anything in dating, and he is right that the reflex costs men more than it saves. But paying only makes sense when the account underneath is working.
If the month produced dates, the paid tier did its job and keeping it can make sense. If it produced plenty of matches and then silence, look at your first messages. If it produced very few matches at all, fix what she sees before you spend anything on showing it to more people.
