Yes, you can delete your Hinge account and make a new one, unless the account was banned. A banned account cannot create a new Hinge account. Deleting removes your photos, chat history and member interactions, and a subscription you had paid for does not follow you to the new account. Decide what you would lose before you tap Delete.
How to delete it
Hinge gives the steps in its help center. Tap your photo icon, then the gear icon for Account Settings. Scroll to the bottom, tap Delete Account and follow the prompts.
Uninstalling the app does not delete your account. Removing the icon from your phone changes your phone only. The account, photos and answers stay where they were, and they are still there if you reinstall. The only way to delete is the button inside the app.
What you lose when you delete
Hinge says deleting the account deletes your content, in line with its Privacy Policy. That includes your photos, your chat history and your member interactions.
Every match you have goes with it. If a woman you are talking to is worth keeping, do not let the account take her away. First get her number. a dating coach's order is a loose agreement to meet for a drink, then a number swap, then a few light messages by text before you name the day. Do it before you delete anything.
What happens to a paid subscription
This is the part that costs men money. Hinge's help center says that if you create a new account during a subscription period you paid for, you cannot get that subscription's benefits back. You need to buy a new subscription.
How the old plan ends depends on how you paid.
- Hinge payment. Deleting your account immediately cancels the subscription.
- App Store or Google Play. You must cancel the subscription there. Deleting the account does not do it for you.
So the safe order is to check how you pay, cancel where it is billed if that is the store, and only then delete. A man who skips that can find a charge months later for an account he can no longer open.
What a banned account can and cannot do
Hinge's help center is direct about this. A banned account cannot create a new Hinge account.
If you were banned, deleting and starting again is not an option, and the right move is the appeal. The appeal route is a separate process, and the reason for the ban decides what you write. Do not try to build a new account around a ban.
Will a new account fix your results
This is the real reason most men ask, so be honest about it. They are not getting matches, and they hope a fresh account will start things over.
Nothing in Hinge's help pages promises a better start from a new account. The things it does describe are losses: your content, your chats and your subscription's benefits. What is missing from a new account is also what you had built on the old one, and it does not remove the reasons you were not getting matches.
a dating coach breaks online dating into steps: time on the app, matches, the matches you actually want, replies, numbers and dates. When results are poor, his first question is which step is weak. If you are not getting matches, look at your photos first, then your written answers. A new account with the same photos and answers will give you the same results.
When starting over does make sense
There are good reasons to delete and rebuild.
- You are moving to a new city and want a clean start.
- Your page is mostly old, and you would rather rewrite everything than patch it.
- You want a break and a complete reset of your history.
In those cases, you can take the time to rebuild properly. Choose a clear first photo of your face in good light. Add photos that show what your week looks like. Write answers with something specific in them.
Fix the page before you delete it
Deleting removes everything for good, which is the reason to think before tapping.
Try fixing the page first. Change your first photo, rewrite one answer, and watch your matches for a couple of weeks. If the numbers move, you saved yourself a rebuild. If they do not, you can still delete with a clear idea of what you are changing.
