Start with the fix Hinge gives for any technical problem. Make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi connection or signal, then log out and back in, which re-syncs your phone with Hinge's servers. If that does not help, uninstall the app and reinstall it so you are on the latest version.

Check your connection before anything else

Hinge's troubleshooting page asks you to check for a strong Wi-Fi connection or signal first. The app has to reach Hinge's servers to load your feed and your chats. A weak signal makes that slow, patchy, or impossible.

Test it the quick way. If you are on Wi-Fi, switch to mobile data. If you are on data, find a Wi-Fi network. If Hinge loads on one and not the other, the connection was the problem, not the app.

A café or train connection that seems fine for browsing can still be too weak for the app. Try again somewhere with a solid signal before you go further.

Log out and back in

This is Hinge's first fix for any technical issue. Logging out and logging back in re-syncs your device with Hinge's servers. Hinge treats it as the thing to try before anything more drastic.

Before you log out, make sure you can get back in. Know which sign-in method your account uses, and check that you still have access to it. A glitchy app is a nuisance. Being locked out of your own account is a real problem.

Once you are back in, give the app a moment to load before you judge whether it worked.

Reinstall to get the latest version

If logging out and in did not help, Hinge's next step is to uninstall the app and reinstall it. The point is to make sure you are running the latest version.

Delete Hinge from your phone, download it again from your app store, and log back in. The same sign-in caution applies here, so sort that out before you delete anything.

A busy account can take a moment

Hinge notes one more thing. Accounts with a lot of likes or hidden chats may see a slight delay while that data syncs.

So if you have been on the app a long time, a slow first load after logging in or reinstalling may just be the app catching up. Leave it open on a good connection for a minute or two before you decide something is broken.

It is also a hint worth taking. A long pile of old hidden chats and likes you never answered is not doing much for you. Clearing out what you no longer need leaves less to sync, and it keeps your attention on the women you actually want to see.

If it still will not load

If you have checked your connection, logged out and back in, and reinstalled, you have run out of fixes you can make yourself. At that point it is a question for Hinge's support team.

When you contact them, describe exactly what happens and when. "The Discover feed stays blank after I log in, on Wi-Fi and on mobile data" is something support can act on. "Hinge is broken" is not.

List the steps you have already tried, and say which phone you use. That saves a round of replies telling you to do what you have already done.

Keep your plans off the app

A day when the app will not load costs more than a day if your dates depend on it.

If the only way to reach a woman you are talking to is Hinge, a glitch cuts you off from her at exactly the wrong moment. The fix is the same habit that gets you dates anyway. Once a conversation has some real back and forth, suggest a plan and ask for her number.

a dating coach's advice is to move her off the app once she is ready, judging that by how she is responding. He also points out that an app never reaches her the way a text does. Once you have her number, an app outage is just an annoyance. Your Thursday drink is already in your phone.

The short answer

Work through Hinge's own fixes in order. Check your Wi-Fi or signal, log out and back in to re-sync, and reinstall if that fails so you are on the latest version. Give a busy account a moment to catch up.

And keep your plans with women in your phone, not only in the app.
