Most of the time she is not plotting anything. A girl who ignores you on purpose has decided that you are not worth the effort of a reply, or she never saw a reason to write back. Either way the silence is an answer. On the dating apps it usually means a match who stopped answering your messages. Stop reading meaning into it. Keep swiping and writing to women who do reply.
If you are asking why this girl ignores you in particular, the sections below sort the real reasons from the stories men tell themselves.
The four reasons behind most silence
She is not interested. This is the most common one and the one men resist most. A woman who likes the look of you and enjoys the conversation replies, even slowly. A woman who does not feel anything simply lets your message sit.
She never got a reason to answer. A greeting like "hey" or "how's your day" asks her to do all the work. She has to think of a topic, a joke and a question, and most women will not bother for a stranger.
She is busy or buried. A woman on the dating apps can have a long list of unread conversations and a job and friends on top of it. Yours can slide down the list without any decision being made.
She lost interest after a good start. The chat was fine, then it got flat, or you started to sound eager, and she drifted off.
Only the first is a verdict on you, and even that one is only a verdict on this one match.
Why "on purpose" is usually the wrong frame
When a man says she is ignoring him on purpose, he is imagining that she is sitting there reading his message and choosing to make him wait. That picture feels personal, so it hurts.
Mostly it is the opposite. She is not thinking about you at all. A low-interest woman does not hold your message up and weigh it. She glances at it and moves on, which is exactly why it feels like being ignored.
If she is doing it deliberately, that usually means she saw the message, knew she was not interested, and chose not to write a polite no. That is unkind, but it is common, and it still tells you the same thing: nothing is waiting there for you.
What your own messages might be doing
Before you blame her, read your last five messages as if a stranger sent them.
Are they all questions? A run of "what do you do" and "where are you from" feels like an interview, and nobody enjoys answering an interview from someone they have not met.
Are they long? Three paragraphs about your day to a woman who has said one line is heavy.
Did you send several in a row after she went quiet? That is the fastest way to turn a quiet match into a closed one.
One easy fix is to write less and offer more. Make a light comment on something she said, add one small fact about yourself, and ask something she can answer in a sentence.
The next step to take today
Give one more try, then stop.
Wait a day or two. Then send one short message that picks up the conversation or makes a simple plan, something like "I'm around Thursday evening if you want to get a drink." Keep it relaxed and make it easy to say yes to.
If she answers, good. If she does not, you are done. Do not send "hello?" or ask whether you did something wrong, and do not write anything that makes her feel guilty. She owes you nothing yet, because all she has from you is some photos and a few lines.
Then open the next conversation. A man with several live chats does not spend his evening on the one that went silent.
Do not copy the trick of ignoring her back
Men often hear that the answer is to ignore her until she misses you. It does not work as a plan, because a woman who is already not thinking about you will not notice.
What does work is a plain return to your own life. Stop checking the app for her reply. Stop answering other people's messages instantly just to feel busy. Spend the evening with friends, at the gym or on your own projects. A man who is busy with his own life puts the phone down without trying, and that calm shows in how he writes.
How to stop it happening so often
If most of your matches go quiet, the cause is rarely bad luck. Look at what comes before the silence.
Move to a plan sooner. A chat that runs for two weeks with no date has a way of dying. Bring up a specific day within a handful of messages once the tone is friendly.
Pick women who respond. Choose matches whose profiles show effort and who answer quickly, because a woman who writes back is more likely to meet you than one who has to be chased.
Handle the no calmly. When a woman does tell you she is not interested, "No worries, take care" keeps you looking like a man who is easy to talk to. That reputation matters more than any single match.
The point is simple. Silence is information, and a few seconds spent reading it correctly will save you days of waiting on someone who has already answered.
