Badoo asks for your ID when it runs Age Verification, its check that everyone on the app is 18 or over, and it can ask even if you have already verified in the past. You upload a photo of a valid government ID, a passport or driver's license for example, then take a live selfie, and passing adds a badge to your account. If you have not seen a verification prompt, there is nothing you need to do.

What Age Verification is for

The reason is simple. Badoo is for adults, and the ID check is how it confirms that the person using an account is over 18.

Being asked does not mean you did anything wrong. Badoo says the check can come up even for people who have verified before, so a second request is not a sign that something is off with your account. It is a routine check, and the fastest way past it is to do it.

What the check involves

There are two parts, and both happen inside the app.

First, you upload a photo of a valid government-issued ID. A passport or a driver's license both count. Lay the document flat on a plain table, light it well, and fit all of it in the shot so no detail is cut off or covered.

Second, you take a live selfie. The point is to show that the person holding the account is the person on the ID, so face the camera, use decent light, and take off anything that hides your face.

When you pass, a badge appears on your account.

Have everything ready before you start. Use an ID that is valid, not one that has run out. Clear a table, turn on a light, and do it somewhere you will not be interrupted. The whole thing takes a few minutes when you are prepared, and far longer when you are digging through a drawer for your passport halfway through.

If no prompt has appeared

Then you are done. Badoo is clear that if you do not see a verification prompt, there is nothing you need to do.

Do not go hunting for an ID upload screen, and do not send your ID anywhere because someone told you to. The check comes to you as a prompt in the app, or it does not come at all.

Hand your ID to the app, never to a person

This is the one part of the process worth being careful about.

The only place your ID belongs is the verification prompt inside the Badoo app. Nobody you meet on the app needs a picture of your passport or license, whatever reason they give. A match who asks for your ID "for verification," or who sends you a link to verify somewhere outside the app, is not running Badoo's check.

Why passing is worth it

The badge is a small thing, but it answers a question women ask about every man they match with: is this a real person?

Women on the apps have to work out who is real before they decide anything else. coach has pointed out that on an app crowded with fake accounts, even a man with good game gets less out of it. A badge that shows you passed a real check puts you on the right side of that line before your first message lands.

It will not do the attracting for you. It just removes a reason for her to hold back.

Trust is built in the messages

What a woman is really deciding in the first few messages is whether you are someone she would feel comfortable meeting.

Speed is the usual problem. In My experience, a man who pushes too fast puts women on guard, and getting sexual early does it most of all. That happens even when she likes his photos. So let the badge do its quiet job and let your messages do the rest. Be light, be specific about something on her page, and let her see an ordinary, likeable man with things going on.

A good early conversation feels easy. You notice something she shared, she answers, you tease her a little, she plays along. Nothing in it asks her to trust you before she has a reason to. That ease is what makes a woman comfortable saying yes to a drink with someone she has never met.

Then move it along rather than chatting for weeks. A handful of good messages is usually enough before you suggest swapping numbers, and a simple plan should follow soon after. For a first date, pick somewhere public and easy to leave. Most women will feel at ease there, and a relaxed date goes better for both of you.
