Your matches are in the Matches tab. A woman who has liked you but not yet matched with you is somewhere else, in the Likes You tab at the bottom of the screen. To turn a like into a match, tap the Chat icon on her entry and either send a message or tap Match, and she moves to Matches.

The Likes You tab is where it starts

When a woman likes you, she does not show up as a match yet. She appears in Likes You, the tab at the bottom of the screen.

This is the list most men skip past, and it is the best one on the app. Every woman in it has already said yes to your page. The hard part, getting her to notice you, is done.

Open an entry and look at what she liked and whether she wrote a comment. Then tap the Chat icon. From there you can send a message, or tap Match to match without writing anything first.

The Matches tab is where conversations live

Once you match, she moves to the Matches tab. Open her entry there to start the conversation.

The same thing happens when you do the liking. If you send a Like in Discover, or a Rose in Standouts, and she accepts, she appears in Matches as a fresh match.

So there are two doors into the same room. Either she liked you first and you answered from Likes You, or you liked her and she said yes.

Why a woman you liked disappeared

A lot of men think a profile has been deleted when it simply stopped showing. Once you send a Like, that profile drops out of your Discover feed until the person responds. You will not see her again unless she chooses to match with you.

That is how the feed is built, not a bug. A woman you liked yesterday has not vanished from the app. She is waiting on her side of the screen, and you will find her in Matches only if she says yes.

This matters for how you behave. Do not go looking for her in Discover to see whether she is still there. Move on to the next woman you actually want to meet.

Where chats you hid go

If you hide a chat, it goes to a Hidden section at the bottom of your Matches tab. A match you were sure you had lost may be sitting there.

Check it before you decide anyone is gone. It is also the right place to park a conversation you are not ready to deal with, so the list you work from stays short.

When the Matches list looks empty

After an update, some men open Matches and see nothing. Hinge's own advice is simple: check your connection, log out and back in, wait a moment, then restart your device or update the app.

Work through those in order. Do not delete your account over an empty list. A blank screen after an update is almost always a loading problem, and the matches come back once the app syncs.

What to do once you can see them

Finding your matches is the easy half. The harder half is what you do with them.

a dating coach's point about the apps is that a match is not a result. Men chat for days or weeks, go without her number, and the conversation dies. His method moves a woman from the app to a plan in about four to seven messages, ending with a swapped number and a day and a place.

So work the lists in a sensible order. Start with Likes You, because those women have already chosen you. Reply to the matches where it is your turn. Skip the ones that have gone quiet for good.

coach also notes that a good share of your matches will come from inbound likes, and many of those will be women you would not pick. You do not owe every one of them a long conversation. You owe the ones you actually like a clear message and a plan.

The short answer

Matches are in the Matches tab. Likes from women you have not answered yet are in Likes You. A profile you liked disappears from Discover until she responds, and chats you hid sit in the Hidden section at the bottom of Matches.

If the list looks empty, check your connection, log out and back in, and update the app. Then open Likes You first, because those women already like you.
