Because she left Hinge. Hinge's help page says that when a woman liked you and her like is no longer visible, it means she deleted her account. If you did not skip her yourself, that is the whole answer, and nothing you did removed it.

What Hinge says happened

Hinge's answer to this question is one sentence long. If someone liked your profile and her like is no longer visible, it means she deleted her Hinge profile. Her like went with it.

So there is no hidden setting and nothing on your side to repair. The like was real. The woman who sent it is simply not on Hinge any more.

Or did you skip her yourself?

There is one other way a like leaves your list, and this one is on you. If you skipped her in Likes You, she is gone from there as well.

Hinge lets you bring back a skip with the undo arrow, but only your most recent one. Free members get a limited number of undos, and that allowance is shared across Discover, Standouts and Likes You. Hinge+ and HingeX subscribers can undo their latest skip as often as they like. If the app shows "Undo unavailable," she cannot be brought back, and Hinge says it cannot restore skipped profiles by hand.

So the test takes two seconds. If you remember skipping her a moment ago, try the undo arrow. If you never touched her like, Hinge's answer applies and she has deleted her account.

Why she might have left

Women leave Hinge for the same reasons men do. She met someone. She wanted a break. She got fed up with the apps for a while.

None of those is a comment on you. She liked you, which means something on your page made her want to know more. That is worth remembering on a slow week.

It also means there is nothing to chase. Her account is gone, so there is no way to find her on Hinge and nothing to gain from trying.

Likes do not wait for you

The practical lesson is about timing. A like sitting in your list is not a standing offer. It lasts only as long as she stays on the app and stays interested.

a dating coach makes this point about app matches in general. A woman on a dating app is there to go on dates, and she is talking to other men while you decide. Leave her waiting and she may go out with one of them, or stop opening the app altogether.

So check your likes regularly and answer the ones you want while they are fresh. When a woman you like has liked you, match with her and open with a line that picks up on something she wrote. Do not leave her in the list for a week while you think it over.

Use what she gave you. If her like came with a comment, answer the comment in your first message. She chose that line as her way into a conversation with you. Ignoring it and sending "hey" wastes the easiest opening you will get all week. Pick it up, add a little of yourself, and leave her something simple to answer.

Choose instead of only reacting

There is a trap on the other side too. A man with a few likes waiting often stops looking anywhere else. He sits in Likes You and picks from whoever picked him.

That is a narrow way to date. The women in your likes chose you first, which is pleasant. But they are not a list of the women you most want.

Spend part of every session in Discover, liking the women you would actually take out. Add a comment that shows you read her page. That way your week is built on your choices, not just on whoever happened to find you.

My advice on selectivity applies here as well. Like fewer women, more deliberately. In his experience, a man who likes nearly everyone ends up shown to fewer attractive women, not more.

The short answer

A like disappears from your Hinge list when the woman who sent it deletes her account. If you had just skipped her, the undo arrow may bring her back.

Either way, treat incoming likes as perishable. Answer the ones you want quickly, and turn them into a date while she is still around.
