What Happens to Your Likes When You Turn On Travel Mode?

If you liked a woman on Bumble before turning on Travel Mode and she has Premium, she can still see you in her Liked You tab and match with you from there. If she does not have Premium, she may not see you again to like you back. That is because while Travel Mode is on, you only appear in the place you picked.

Every like you send at home is waiting on the same thing: for her to come across you and like you back. Travel Mode splits those likes into two groups.

The first group is women with Premium. Premium includes the Liked You tab, which shows the people who have already liked you. Your like sits there, and she can match with you whenever she opens it, wherever you have gone.

The second group is everyone else. Those women need to come across you again to like you back. Once you switch on Travel Mode, you are no longer in any deck at home, so there may be nothing for them to come across.

Plan as if most of your recent home likes are in the second group, since only the first group has the Liked You tab to fall back on.

It helps to picture what she sees. Without Premium, she works through the people Bumble shows her near where she is. Until the day you left, you were one of them.

After you switch on Travel Mode, Bumble shows you to women in the city you picked instead. The woman at home you liked last night may reach the point where you would have appeared, and you are simply not there. Nothing is wrong with the like. She just may not get the chance to see you and say yes.

Bumble's own wording is careful. It says she "may not" see you again, not that she never will. But you should plan as if the chance is gone for the length of the trip.

The fix is timing, and it costs nothing.

Do not have a big swiping session at home the night before you switch. Those likes have the least time to be returned before you disappear. If you want one last round at home, do it several days before the trip, so the women you liked have time to come across you while you are still there.

Weigh this more heavily before a long trip. A weekend away takes you out of the local deck for a few days. Two weeks away is a long stretch in which the women you liked may not come across you, so finish more at home before you go.

Better still, spend those last evenings finishing what is already open. Answer the matches you have, and move the promising ones toward a plan for when you get back. A match you already have does not need you to be in her deck. A like that has not been returned does.

The same rule works in reverse on the trip. When you swipe in the city you picked, you appear to women there, and your likes are waiting for them to come across you in turn.

Start early enough for that to happen. Bumble's help page says a Travel Mode search shows you people from that area for the next seven days. So switch it on a few days before you leave. That gives the women you like there time to find you before you arrive.

Sometimes a woman from home likes you back from her Liked You tab while you are away. That is a good problem, but it needs handling.

Be straight about where you are. Tell her you are traveling, say when you are back, and suggest a specific evening for that week. A plan made from a hotel room is still a plan, and it is far better than an open-ended chat that has to wait days for you to return.

Keep it warm without letting it drift. A couple of messages while you are away, then a firm plan for your first free evening at home, is plenty.

When you get back, switch Travel Mode off through your settings, the same way you turned it on. You are then back in the decks of the women around you.

Do not count on a like from before the trip still being live. Treat those as spent, and put your attention on the women you come across now. Then give yourself a normal week at home before your next trip, so your likes have time to be returned.
