Top Picks is a Tinder feature that highlights the potential matches the app considers most swipe-worthy for you. Every Tinder user gets one free Top Pick a day, according to Tinder's help center, and Tinder Gold and Tinder Platinum subscribers are shown their full set each day. It is a short list chosen by the app, not a list of women who have already liked you, and not a ranking of the ten best women near you.

Is it a top ten

Men search for "Tinder top 10 picks", and the name has stuck, but Tinder does not describe it that way. The help center calls the feature Top Picks and says it highlights the potential matches the app considers most swipe-worthy for you.

It does not promise a set number of ten, and it does not say these are the most attractive women in your area. The word that matters is "for you". These are the cards the app thinks suit you.

That is a suggestion, and a suggestion is worth reading before you act on it.

Who sees what

What you see depends on whether you pay.

Every user gets a free Top Pick each day. That is a small taste of the feature, and it costs nothing to look at.

Tinder Gold and Tinder Platinum subscribers are shown their full set of Top Picks each day. Subscribers can also buy additional Picks, and Tinder says they have 24 hours to view or swipe them before they disappear.

A subscriber opens Top Picks from the Gold or Platinum flame icon on the Discovery screen.

How they refresh

A subscriber's daily Top Picks refresh every 24 hours with a whole new set of profiles. So the list is not fixed. Each day brings a different set, and the women from yesterday's set are replaced.

That has a practical effect. If you want to act on a Top Pick, do it that day. Tomorrow's set will be different, and you cannot count on seeing the same woman again.

What a Top Pick is not

A Top Pick is not a match, and it is not a sign that she has seen you. It tells you the app considers her worth your attention. It says nothing about whether she likes you.

It is not a Super Like either. A Super Like is something a person chooses to send, and a Top Pick is something the app chooses to show you.

If you want to know who has already Liked you, that is a different screen, available to Gold and Platinum subscribers.

Treat it like any other card

The danger with a curated set is that it feels like an endorsement, so you like all of it. Do not.

a dating coach's point about the apps is that swiping right on everyone makes you look unselective, and the app has little reason to show you the women you actually want. Your swipes teach it your taste, and that includes the swipes you make on Top Picks.

So read each Top Pick the way you would any other card. Look at her pictures and what she wrote, and ask whether you would be glad to match and whether you have something specific to say. If yes, like her and open with a line about something real on her page. If not, pass.

What to do with the free one

The free Top Pick each day is worth a quick look, because it costs you nothing and occasionally shows you a woman you scrolled past. Do not build a routine around it. One card a day cannot change your results by itself.

Whether to pay for the full set

Whether the full set is worth it depends on your results. coach treats paid features as multipliers, which means they only help when your free account already gets matches.

Test it before you decide. For two weeks, note how many Top Picks you liked, how many liked you back, and how many turned into real conversations. If almost none did, more Picks will give you more of the same.

A fair first test

Give the free Top Pick a week and write down what happens. How many of them would you actually have liked if they had come up in your normal swiping, and how many liked you back?

If the free ones are consistently good, that tells you something about how well the app reads your taste. If they are not, you have learned that the full set is unlikely to be worth paying for.

The short answer

Top Picks is Tinder's daily short list of the people it thinks are most swipe-worthy for you. Everyone gets one free, and Gold and Platinum subscribers see a full set that refreshes each day. Judge each one on its own, and keep your standards where they were.
