Every Tinder user gets one free Top Pick a day. Tinder Gold and Tinder Platinum subscribers are shown a whole set of Top Picks each day, and they can buy more at any time. Tinder's pages do not give a fixed size for the subscriber set, so you will see however many Tinder shows you, and the set refreshes every 24 hours.
The free count: one a day
If you pay nothing, you have one Top Pick per day. Tinder's help center says so directly, and Tinder told TechCrunch the same thing.
One card a day is not much, and that is the point of it. It is a sample of what the feature does, and a fair test of whether the full set would be worth paying for. Treat it as a single card you take seriously, not as a slot machine.
The subscriber count: a set
Top Picks is a premium feature on Tinder. Gold and Platinum subscribers are shown their set each day. Platinum includes everything in Gold, so it opens Top Picks too, and Tinder Plus alone does not.
The number in the set is not published. A man asking "how many do I have" can only open the screen and count, and the count can differ from one day to the next. That is also why you should be wary of any forum post that gives a number as if it were a rule.
Buying more
Gold and Platinum subscribers can purchase more Top Picks at any time. Tinder told TechCrunch that the extras are sold in packs, and Tinder's help center says that picks you bought give you 24 hours to view or swipe them before they disappear.
Do not buy a pack unless you will go through it today. The extra picks are chosen the same way as the rest. Tinder told TechCrunch that it draws on profile details such as education, job and interests. It also uses your earlier swiping behavior. That means a pack is more cards of the same kind, not a different kind of card.
How many per day, and when they change
The count restarts with each refresh. Tinder's help center says that after 24 hours the Top Picks screen is replaced with a whole different set of profiles.
So "how many per day" is really "how many in each 24 hour window." The free user has one in each window. The subscriber has a set in each window. Nothing carries over, and a pick you ignored today is gone tomorrow.
Why the count matters less than what you do with it
Men fixate on the number because it feels like a measure of how well Tinder thinks of them. It is not a score. Top Picks are chosen from your profile details and your swiping behavior, and the set exists to give you cards you might like, not to rank you.
What decides your results is what you do with each card. A man who looks at one pick carefully, finds something specific to say and writes it, gets more out of the free pick than a man who flicks through a full set and likes all of them.
That fits a dating coach's advice about swiping. Be selective, because liking everyone teaches the app nothing about what you want and makes each of your likes worth less.
Should you pay for a bigger set
a dating coach treats paid features as multipliers, and a multiplier only helps if the number underneath is above zero. He says to try a paid feature once, watch what changes, and drop it if nothing does.
Run the free pick for two weeks first. Count how many you liked, how many matched, and how many replied to your opening line. If the free picks produce conversations, the full set is a reasonable thing to try for a month. If they never do, more picks will not fix it. Look at your main photo and your first message instead, since that is where the loss is.
The short answer
One free pick a day for everyone. A full set each day for Gold and Platinum, with no published number. Extra packs on request, good for 24 hours. Open the screen once, give each card real attention, and write to the women you like.
