Is Tinder Gold Worth It?

Tinder Gold is worth it for a man whose free account already gets some matches and who wants to spend less time on the app. The feature that earns the money is See who Likes You, which shows you the women who already liked you so you can decide on them first. If your free account gets almost no likes, Gold will not change that, and the money does more good spent on your photos.

Tinder's help center describes Gold as everything in Tinder Plus with three things added.

From Plus you get unlimited Likes, unlimited Rewinds, Passport Mode, hidden ads and incognito. Gold adds weekly Super Likes, a monthly Boost and See who Likes You. The Likes page, which shows who already liked you before you decide to Like or Nope, is only available with Tinder Gold and Tinder Platinum.

So most of what Gold adds over Plus comes down to one screen.

Without Gold, you find the women who liked you by chance, one card at a time, mixed in with the many who never will. With Gold, they are all on one page.

That changes what an evening on the app looks like. Instead of swiping through strangers and hoping, you sort a short list of women who have already said yes. a dating coach rates any paid feature that lets you choose who you match with, instead of waiting for the app to choose for you, as one of the most useful things money can buy on a dating app.

Two rules keep it useful. Like back only the women you would have liked anyway, because a page full of yeses tempts you to match with everyone and then answer nobody well. And treat a thin page as information. If only a couple of women show up there each week, the problem is what women see when you appear, not the price of the app.

a dating coach calls paid features multipliers, and he is careful about what that means. A multiplier makes a good result bigger. Multiply zero by anything and you still get zero.

If your free account gets a steady trickle of likes and matches, Gold turns that trickle into something faster and easier to work with. If it gets almost nothing, Gold gives you a clear view of almost nothing. His advice is to get at least some matches without paying before you think about paying at all.

Gold comes with unlimited Likes, and that is where plenty of men undo the good it does.

A man who likes every woman in his feed ends up with matches he has no interest in. The ones he does care about then get slower, flatter replies because of the clutter. When the a dating program community put questions to a Tinder employee, one of them was whether to like a lot of people or be selective. The answer was about as short as an answer gets: be selective.

Use unlimited Likes to stop rationing the women you genuinely like. Do not treat it as permission to like everyone.

The weekly Super Likes are the part of Gold that a dating coach is least keen on. He has said the few times he tried them, the results were not impressive, and he is not convinced they get you matched much more than an ordinary Like would.

He is far more positive about Boosts. So was the former Tinder employee a dating program spoke to, who was asked which paid option was the best value and answered that Boosts were the only good idea. If you use your monthly Boost, use it at a time when you can actually reply to the women it brings in.

A short plan is a sensible way to try Gold, with one catch. Tinder notes that the monthly Boost is not included with weekly subscriptions, so a week gets you See who Likes You and the rest of Gold, minus the Boost.

The price is not fixed either. Tinder's terms say pricing varies with region, subscription length, past purchases and account activity, so check what your own screen shows before comparing it with what a friend paid.

However long you buy, run it as a test. Write down how many matches and real conversations you had in the week before, then count the same things at the end. If they moved, keep it. If they did not, cancel, and put the money toward the photos that decide whether women like you in the first place.
