Partly. Registering on FarmersOnly is free, and so is the Standard membership, which lets you browse members, use the search options and send flirts. Exchanging personal messages needs a paid Premium membership. So you can find out who is on the site for nothing, but you cannot hold a conversation without paying.
The two membership levels
FarmersOnly has two levels. Standard is free. Premium is paid.
A Standard member can look through profiles, search with the site's options, and send flirts. When someone sends a flirt, the other member gets an email telling them. That is the whole of what you get without paying, and it is more than it sounds, because it is enough to see whether the site has women near you.
Premium adds the things that turn browsing into conversation. Premium members can message each other. They can also see who is online, see who has visited their page and see another member's last visit. They can block members, post unlimited photos, and read and reply to messages on mobile.
What a flirt is, and what it is not
A flirt is a low-effort signal. It tells a woman you noticed her and nothing else. The site says it does not send artificial flirts or messages, so nothing reaches anyone that a member did not start himself. That is worth knowing, because it means a flirt you receive came from a real person who clicked it.
Treat a flirt as a door knock, not a conversation. A woman who gets ten of them in a week has no idea which one is worth answering. You can send them for free, but do not expect them to carry much.
Why the message limit matters
Only Premium members can exchange messages with each other. That has a catch for you if you are the one paying.
Say you upgrade, and the woman you want to write to is still on the free level. A message from you may not be readable to her. FarmersOnly has an add-on called Gold Status, available only to Premium members, that lets your message be opened and read by Standard members as well. So the real price of reaching a woman on the free level can include that add-on.
Check the details on the package screen before you pay. The site offers several price plans and payment methods for Premium, and what each one includes is worth reading before you enter a card.
How to test the site for free
Use the free level to answer the question that matters most: are there women here near me?
Sign up, set a radius around where you live, and browse for twenty minutes. Look at how many women are within a sensible drive, whether their photos look recent, and whether their pages say anything real. If you see a decent number, the site is worth a trial. If the results are thin or far away, a rural site is the wrong tool for your area, and a general dating app with more people will serve you better.
Widen the radius a step at a time. A woman an hour away is a real possibility for a rural man and a poor idea for a city one, so let your own life decide what counts as near.
Before you pay
Decide what you are buying. Premium only pays off while you are writing, so start it in a week when you will really send messages. Do not pay on a Sunday night and then wait two weeks to use it.
When you start, write to women about something real on their page. A horse, a garden, a fair, a job on a farm. One or two sentences and one question. A woman on a niche site sees fewer messages than a woman on a large app, so a line that shows you read her page stands out more than it would elsewhere.
a dating coach's advice on timing applies here too: once she gives you a real answer, move toward a plan. In a rural area, distances are long and plans take effort, so letting chats drift for weeks makes the first meeting harder to arrange.
If you get nowhere after a fair try
If you pay for Premium, write good messages for a few weeks, and still get no replies, the site may not be the problem. Photos and first lines travel with you to every app. A coach can look at both and tell you which one is costing you replies.
