Who handles a Badoo refund depends on how you paid. Apple decides refunds for App Store purchases through reportaproblem.apple.com, Google Play refunds are requested from Payments and subscriptions in the Play Store, and for card, Apple Pay, PayPal or Badoo web payments you contact Badoo support with your order details. A refund request does not stop the plan from renewing, so cancel it as a separate step.

Start with who took your money

Most men lose time here by writing to the wrong people. A purchase that went through the App Store is Apple's to decide, one through Google Play is Google's, and a card payment you made to Badoo is Badoo's.

So check how you paid before you write anything. If the charge came through your Apple account, it is Apple's decision. If it came through Google Play, it is Google's. If you paid with a card, Apple Pay, PayPal, or on the Badoo website, it goes to Badoo support.

App Store and Google Play purchases

For an Apple purchase, go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple account that paid. Find the Badoo charge and request the refund there. Apple makes the call.

For a Google Play purchase, open the Play Store and go to Payments and subscriptions. Find the Badoo purchase and request the refund from that screen.

In both cases the decision sits with the store, not with Badoo. Write your reason there, in the store's own form.

Card, Apple Pay, PayPal and web payments

For these, you contact Badoo support. Put everything they need into one message:

  • Your order number.
  • The email address or phone number on your Badoo account.
  • How you paid: card, Apple Pay, PayPal or the website.
  • Your reason for asking.

The order number is usually on the receipt that came by email, or in your PayPal or card history. Find it before you write. Without those details, support has a harder time matching your message to the payment.

Cancel as well, or it renews

Asking for a refund and cancelling the plan are two different actions. Badoo is clear that a refund request does not stop renewals.

So do both. Cancel in the same place you paid: your iPhone subscriptions for Apple, the Play Store for Google Play, or the Plans screen in the app or Payment settings on badoo.com for a card or PayPal. Then send the refund request. If you skip the cancel step, you can end up asking for a refund on one charge while the next one is already on its way.

Write it like a customer, not a complaint

Keep the request short and plain. Say what you bought, when, what went wrong, and what you are asking for. Two or three sentences cover it.

A long, angry message reads worse and helps no one make a decision. "I bought Premium by mistake while trying to cancel, and I have not used it" is clear. So is "I was charged after I cancelled, and here is my confirmation screenshot." Give facts they can check.

How to avoid needing one next time

Most refund requests come from one of two places: a plan that renewed when you meant to stop, or a plan you bought on a whim and never used.

The first one is solved with a reminder. Any time you buy a plan just to try it, set an alert on your phone a few days before it renews.

Keep your own records too. Take a screenshot when you buy and another when you cancel, and keep the receipt emails in one folder. Glance at your card or PayPal history once a month for app charges you did not expect. If you ever do need a refund, you will have the order number, the dates and the proof in front of you, instead of digging for them.
