Bumpy Gold is sold as an in-app subscription, so you cancel it through the store that bills you. On an iPhone, that is your Apple subscriptions list. On Android, it is Google Play. Deleting the app does not stop the charge, so cancel first and delete later.
Why you cancel in the store
Bumpy's App Store listing shows Bumpy Gold as an in-app subscription from the developer Bumpy Inc., with monthly and weekly options. When a subscription is bought that way, the store holds the billing, and the store is the only place that can end it.
This is why a man can tap around inside a dating app for ten minutes and never find a cancel button. The app can show you what you have. It cannot stop a payment that Apple or Google is collecting.
On an iPhone or iPad
Apple's steps are short:
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Choose the Bumpy subscription.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
If Bumpy is not on that list, you may have signed in to a different Apple account than the one you paid with. Check any other Apple account you use before assuming the charge is coming from somewhere else.
On Android
Google Play's steps run through the store:
- Open subscriptions in Google Play.
- Select the Bumpy subscription.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
Google says that uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. Men get caught on this one more than any other. They delete the app in frustration, feel finished, and find another charge a week later.
Make sure you are signed in to the Google account that paid. A phone with two accounts can show an empty list under the wrong one.
What happens after you cancel
Google says that after you cancel, you keep access through the end of the current billing period. You do not lose what you already paid for.
That helps you decide when to cancel. There is no reason to wait for the last day, because canceling early does not shorten what you have. Cancel the moment you decide, so a renewal cannot slip past you.
Bumpy Gold has a weekly option, and weekly plans renew often. If you chose that one, a delay costs you sooner than on a monthly plan.
Check that it worked
Go back to the same subscriptions list and look at the entry. It should show that the subscription is canceled and give an end date, not a renewal date. If it still shows a renewal, the cancel did not go through, so repeat the steps.
Also watch your next statement. A small charge you did not expect is easier to question the week it happens than three months later. If you did cancel and were still charged, take screenshots of the subscription page and contact the store's support, or Bumpy's support team.
Before you pay for the next app
If you are canceling because it did not give you matches, ask what went wrong before you pay for another app. A paid tier gives you more reach, but it does not fix the page it is showing. A weak first photo or an empty bio loses just as many matches in front of a big crowd as in front of a small one.
Look at your lead photo first, then your first message. Those two things usually decide your results, on Bumpy or on any other app. Fix them before you add another monthly cost.
Quick checklist
- Cancel in Apple or Google, not inside the app
- Do not rely on deleting the app
- Use the account that paid
- Cancel as soon as you decide, since access runs to the end of the period
- Recheck the subscription list to confirm it shows canceled
- Fix your photos before you pay for another app
