Like most dating apps, Luxy is canceled in the same place the money left your account. On an iPhone that means the subscriptions under your Apple ID in Settings. On Android it means Google Play, under Payments & subscriptions. If you paid on the Luxy website, it means PayPal's Manage automatic payments page. Luxy also says to cancel before you delete your account, so a charge does not turn up after you thought you were gone.

Canceling on an iPhone

If you subscribed inside the app on an iPhone, Apple holds the subscription, not Luxy. Open Settings, go into your Apple ID, and open Subscriptions. Find Luxy in the list, tap it, and cancel.

Read the screen that comes up afterwards before you close it. It should confirm the subscription is canceled and show when your paid access ends. If you never see that confirmation, assume the renewal is still on and go back.

Canceling on Android

On an Android phone the subscription sits with Google Play. Open the Play Store, go to Payments & subscriptions, and open your subscriptions. Choose Luxy and cancel it there.

Plenty of men have two Google accounts on one phone, a work one and a personal one. If Luxy is missing from the list, switch accounts and look again before you decide something is broken. The receipt Google emailed you when you first paid tells you which account was charged.

If you paid on the website

A subscription bought on the Luxy website runs through PayPal. Log in to PayPal, open Manage automatic payments, pick Luxy, and stop it.

This is the one men forget, because nothing on their phone reminds them it exists. If you are not sure where you paid, search your email for Luxy and look at who sent the receipt. If you have ever paid for Luxy on a laptop, check PayPal even after canceling in an app store. Two live subscriptions from two different places is an easy mistake, and an irritating one to find on a card statement.

Cancel first, delete second

Deleting the whole account feels like the thorough option. It is the wrong order. Luxy's help center says to cancel your subscription before deleting your account, so you avoid charges you did not expect.

The reason is plain once you look at who is billing you. The charge comes from Apple, Google or PayPal, and none of them is watching your Luxy account. Removing the account, or the app on your phone, does nothing to a payment another company is set up to take. Stop the payment where it lives, check the confirmation, and only then delete whatever you want to delete.

You cannot switch plan type halfway through

Some men go looking for the cancel button because they want a different plan, not no plan at all. Luxy says you cannot switch plan type until your current plan expires.

So the clean route is to turn off auto-renewal on the plan you have, let it run out, and then pick the one you want. Buying a second plan on top of the first just means paying twice for the same weeks.

Spend the time you already paid for

Canceling does not have to mean walking away today. If the confirmation shows time left on your plan, put that time into the conversations you already have.

Go back through your inbox and answer the women you meant to answer. Where a conversation has gone back and forth for a few days and she is plainly enjoying it, suggest a specific drink on a specific evening and get her number. That way the plan survives the day your access ends. A few focused evenings at the end of a plan often do more than all the weeks before them.

Judge the paid months by dates

Before you decide whether to come back, look at what the subscription actually produced. How many women did you like? How many of them wrote back, and how many of those exchanges ended with a drink?
