Tinder Platinum has no single price. Tinder's terms say it runs a global business and its pricing varies based on a number of factors. They add that promotional rates vary by region, length of subscription, bundle size, past purchases and account activity. Its help center lists no fixed amount for any tier. A man in the UK, India or Australia, or a man paying for a longer plan, is charged the price his own app shows at the moment he buys.

What Tinder says about the price

The same two statements answer almost every version of this question.

Tinder says its pricing varies based on a number of factors. And it says it frequently offers promotional rates that can differ by region, length of subscription, bundle size, past purchases and account activity.

That is why searches for a UK price, an India price and an Australia price all end the same way. A figure from one country does not carry over to another, and a figure from an old forum post may not match your screen. Tinder's help pages do not publish a list for you to check against.

What the top tier adds

Platinum includes everything in Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold. On top of that it adds one thing: Prioritized Likes.

Plus gives you unlimited daily Likes and unlimited Rewinds. It also has Passport Mode, hides the ads and lets you go incognito. Gold adds weekly Super Likes, a monthly Boost and See Who Likes You. Platinum adds Prioritized Likes, so your Likes and Super Likes are seen faster by a potential match.

So the extra money for Platinum over Gold is paying for one feature. If that feature does not matter to you, the Gold price is the better comparison.

Where to find your price

Open the app, tap the profile icon, go to Settings and look at the Platinum option. That screen shows your price, in your region's terms, along with the plan lengths available to you.

Tinder says subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, for the price and time period you agreed to when you signed up. So the figure you see before you confirm is also the figure that keeps coming.

A long plan is a bigger bet

Men also ask what a year of Platinum costs. Plan length is one of the factors Tinder lists in its terms, so a longer plan can be priced differently from a short one, and Tinder does not say by how much.

If the app offers a long plan, treat it as a bigger bet. A year is a long time to pay for a feature you have not tested. The cheaper way to find out whether Platinum suits you is the shortest plan on offer, because the end date comes sooner and you can stop.

What a dating coach says about Platinum

a dating coach has told his audience that Platinum was worth it from his own experience, and that boosts were worth trying too. His reasoning is that dating apps are businesses, that paying members are the people the app wants to keep happy, and that a paid tier gets you shown to more people. He also said that tiers can climb past the point where they are worth the price.

In the same breath, he said not to take his word for it. His rule is to test any paid feature, with and without, and trust what your own results show. He does not pretend a price answers the question for you.

A way to test it

You can run a fair test of Platinum without a long commitment.

  • Count your matches and replies on your current setup over a couple of weeks.
  • Subscribe on the shortest plan and send your Likes the way you normally do, to the women you actually want to meet.
  • Count the same things again over the same stretch.
  • Cancel before the renewal if the numbers did not move enough to matter.

Prioritized Likes can only speed up Likes that deserve a yes. If the women who see your picture pass on it, getting seen faster just gets you a faster no.

When Platinum is the wrong spend

If your free account gets few matches, the problem is further back than the tier. Your lead picture, what you say about yourself and your first message do the work that no subscription does for you.

Fix those first, then decide on Platinum with real numbers in front of you. A top tier makes a good account faster. It does not make a weak one good.
