There is no single price, and a number printed in an article goes stale fast. Coffee Meets Bagel's own help center says subscription options and prices may vary depending on your country, your subscription length, and other factors. The app shows your exact figure on the purchase screen before you pay, so that screen is the only number worth trusting.
What you can know in advance is what the money buys. The core app is free, and there are two paid tiers, CMB Premium and CMB Platinum, with Platinum including everything in Premium plus more.
What you get for free
Coffee Meets Bagel says its core features cost nothing. That covers the daily batch of potential matches, liking and passing, and chatting with the people the app suggests to you.
This matters because it means the first decision is not which tier. It is whether you have used the free version long enough to know what is missing. A man who has not sent a single message yet has nothing to compare a paid tier against.
What Premium adds
Premium is the first paid step. According to the help center, it includes:
- Access to all of your likes in Likes You
- Bonus bagels in Suggested
- A monthly allotment of flowers
- Unlimited rewinds
- Premium Preferences
- A monthly Boost
- Activity Reports
- Read receipts
Most of that list is about volume and information. You see who liked you, you get a few more people to look at, and you can tell whether a message was read. The Boost is the one item aimed at being seen by more people.
What Platinum adds on top
Platinum keeps all of Premium and adds three things: priority likes, an always-on Infinite Boost in place of the monthly one, and Incognito mode. Incognito makes your profile visible only to the people you have liked first.
The third item is the odd one. Incognito suits a man who does not want to be found by people he has not chosen. It does nothing for a man who is trying to be found, and most men reading about price want to be found.
How billing works
Subscriptions bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play renew automatically unless you cancel. Coffee Meets Bagel says that cancelling does not refund payments, and that fees cannot be prorated back to the day you cancel. In plain terms, you keep what you paid for until the term ends and you do not get part of it back.
If you start on Premium and later want Platinum, you can upgrade. On iOS, the Platinum billing cycle resets to the date you upgrade, and the App Store refunds the unused part of Premium on a prorated basis. On Android, you are charged only the prorated difference. The mechanics differ by store, so read the confirmation screen before you tap.
How to decide whether it is worth paying
a dating coach's position on paid features is easy to remember: test them and judge them by results. He also pushes back on the idea that paying for a dating app is a sign of neediness. In his view, refusing to spend on principle feels clean and produces worse results, since the apps are businesses that show more to the people who pay.
So treat a subscription as an experiment with a start date and a scorecard. Before you buy, write down how many conversations you had in the last month and how many turned into a plan to meet. Buy the cheaper tier for one term, and count again. If the second number did not move, drop it. Fix the length of the test in advance, one term for example, so a slow week does not make the decision for you.
Remember that none of the paid features improves what she sees when she opens your page. Your photos, your first line and the way you reply still decide most of what happens. Picture paying for read receipts and then watching a woman read your message and not answer. The tool told you the truth, and the message was the problem.
Cancel with room to spare
When you decide to stop, do it early in the term and then check the subscription settings in your store to confirm the renewal is off. Use the days you have left. Ask the women you are already talking to for a specific evening, and move the ones who agree onto a phone number, so the plan does not depend on the app.
