Tap the filter icon in the top right of the People tab and adjust Distance there. Bumble says the Distance filter is only available in certain countries. Its list includes the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany and India, among many others. If your country is not on that list, the control is not offered where you are.
Where the setting lives
Filters shape who you see in the People tab. The basic ones are age, distance, verified profiles, languages and similar interests.
Open the People tab and tap the filter icon at the top right. Set the distance you want, then go back to the People tab. The women you see should now fall inside it.
Your location comes from your phone
Bumble gets your location from your phone's GPS, and that cannot be customized. If the app has you in the wrong place, the distance you set will be measured from the wrong place.
Premium members have Travel Mode, which lets them browse another location for seven days. It browses another place for a limited time. It does not move your own location.
What "Show other people if I run out" does
When you have seen everyone inside your filters, Bumble has an option called Show other people if I run out. With it on, Bumble shows people outside your filters once you have been through everyone inside them.
Decide on purpose whether you want that. With it on, you will never see an empty screen, but you will also see women farther away than you said you wanted. With it off, you can run out, which is a useful signal that your area is thin or your filters are tight.
How far to set it
Set the distance you would honestly travel for a weeknight drink, then use that number every time.
a dating coach makes a point about logistics. Living close to where you meet women makes everything easier, and he contrasts a man who lives fifty yards from the date with one who lives fifty miles away. Smaller gaps matter more than most men expect. The difference between walking home together and arranging a taxi and a second car is large.
He also says to pick a venue within walking distance of your home, so you can take her back to your place without a long trip. A tight distance filter does the same job one step earlier. Women who live nearby are the ones you can see on a Tuesday.
In a big city that might mean half an hour each way. In a small town it might be an hour. The right number is the one you will actually travel.
Do not set it wide and sort later
The mistake is setting a huge radius to see more women. Every woman you like has to be answered, and a chat with a woman two hours away usually becomes a long exchange that never produces a date.
A narrow filter costs you nothing today, and it saves you the work of cooling off conversations that were never going to happen. If you run out, widen it a little instead of removing it.
If you cannot find the filter
First check that your country is on Bumble's list. If it is not, nothing is wrong with your account, and nobody else in your country has the control either.
If your country is listed and the option is missing, check where Bumble thinks you are. Turn on location access for Bumble in your phone's settings, turn off any VPN, and update the app.
Without the filter, set your own limit by reading each woman's location before you like her. Ask the plain question: would I travel there for a first drink?
What to do next
Open the filter, set a distance you would travel on a normal evening, and decide whether to leave Show other people if I run out on. Then check your results after a week. If you keep running out, widen the radius a little.
