You remove the account itself, not just the app. Tantan's privacy policy says you can remove your account and that Tantan will then delete your data in line with the policy. Its terms say you end an account by following the steps in the Cancellations section. If you pay for a subscription, cancel that first, and do it through the store you bought it from.

Removing the account versus deleting the app

Deleting the app from your phone does nothing to your Tantan account. Your profile stays up, and other people can still see it. The only thing you have removed is your own access.

If you want to be gone, you have to remove the account. If you only want a break from the notifications, you can leave the account alone and turn off the alerts in your phone settings. Know which of the two you are doing before you start.

What the policy says happens to your data

Tantan's privacy policy says that when you remove your account, it will delete your data in accordance with the policy. It also says it will make best efforts to notify the parties who obtained your personal information from Tantan and ask them to delete it.

Notice the wording: best efforts. That is not a promise that every copy anywhere disappears. A conversation partner may still hold a screenshot, and data already passed along is outside what the company controls. Remove the account, and also assume anything you sent in chat could still exist on someone else's phone.

Cancel a paid plan first

This is the step that costs men money. Tantan's terms say a subscription bought through Apple or Google is cancelled through the Apple App Store or Google Play. They also say unused days of a term are not refunded.

So the order matters.

  1. Cancel the subscription in the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Check that it shows as cancelled there.
  3. Then remove the Tantan account.

Removing the account does not cancel a plan billed by Apple or Google. A subscription bought through a store belongs to the store, and it keeps billing until you cancel it there. Because unused days are not refunded, the tidy move is to cancel, use the days you paid for if you still want them, and remove the account when the term ends.

If you cannot find the steps

Apps change their menus, and the terms point you to the Cancellations section rather than a fixed button path. If you cannot find the option, the privacy policy gives a route. If you cannot manage your personal information yourself, you can contact Tantan in the app. Go to Settings, then Feedback and Suggestions.

Write one short, clear message. Say you want your account removed and your data deleted, give your Tantan ID, and keep a copy of what you sent.

Before you delete anything

Once the account goes, so does everything in it. Spend ten minutes first.

  • Get out of the app with the women who matter. If a conversation is going well, move it to a phone number or another channel you both use, and set a plan to meet. A good conversation should not end because you left an app.
  • Save what you want. Pictures you sent, anything you wrote to yourself, and any details you will want later.
  • Note your subscription status. Check the store for any active plan, so nothing keeps billing.

Should you delete or just step back?

Men often delete after a bad week. That is a fine reason to take a break and a poor reason to lose a profile that took time to build.

Ask a simple question: is this app giving you dates? If it is not, and you have a decent profile and good first messages, then the app probably does not suit where you live, and removing it is a reasonable call. If you have not tried writing specific openers or asking anyone to meet, the app may not be the problem.

What to do with the time

A removed account frees your evenings. Put them into the apps where women near you are actually active, and into meeting people in person. The goal was never to be on Tantan. It was to go on dates.

The short answer

Remove the account, not just the app, and cancel any paid plan through Apple or Google first because unused days are not refunded. If you cannot find the steps, contact Tantan through Settings and Feedback and Suggestions.
