How Do You Cancel Tinder on Android?

It depends on how you paid, because Tinder on Android can bill you in two different ways. A purchase through the Google Play Store, with an order number starting GPA, is cancelled in the Google Play app under Payments and Subscriptions. A credit card or PayPal payment made inside the Tinder app is cancelled in Tinder itself, under Manage Payment Account.

The prefix on your order number tells you who is billing you.

• GPA means you signed up through the Android app and the Google Play Store bills you.
• TNDR means you bought on Tinder.com, or through the Android app with a credit card. Tinder bills you directly.

If you paid with PayPal inside the Android app, the cancel route is the same as for a card: Manage Payment Account in Tinder.

If you cannot find your order number, open Google Play and check its subscription list, using the steps below. If Tinder is listed there, Google is billing you. If it is not, the payment most likely went through Tinder.

For an order number starting GPA:

1. Open the Google Play app.
2. Tap your profile icon in the top right.
3. Go to Payments and Subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
4. Select the Tinder subscription.
5. Tap Cancel subscription.

Afterward, open the Subscriptions list a second time and confirm the Tinder plan now shows as cancelled.

For a card or PayPal payment made inside the Tinder app:

1. Open Tinder.
2. Tap the profile icon.
3. Choose Manage Payment Account.
4. Cancel the subscription there.

Check afterward that Manage Payment Account shows the subscription as cancelled. Because this route runs through your Tinder login, it is the one to deal with before you ever think about deleting your account.

The usual mistake goes like this. A man opens Google Play, finds no Tinder subscription, and assumes he has nothing to cancel. Meanwhile he is paying Tinder directly by card, and the charges keep coming.

The opposite happens too. He looks inside Tinder, sees nothing obvious to press, and gives up, when the plan was sitting in his Google Play account all along.

Check both places if you are unsure. It takes two minutes, and it is the only way to be certain nothing is still running.

Tinder says uninstalling or deleting the app from your phone does not cancel a subscription, and it does not delete your account. Deleting the account does not cancel one either.

Tinder's Terms of Use go further for store purchases. They say Google Play purchases have to be cancelled or managed through your Google Play account to avoid more billing, even after you delete your Tinder account. The only thing that stops a Google-billed plan is the cancel button in Google Play.

Before you cancel, it is worth asking whether the money was the problem or the way you used it.

A lot of men will not spend anything on a dating app out of pride, as though a subscription admitted something about them. Pride is a poor reason to keep doing things the slow way. If your time is short, paying to spend less of it swiping is a fair trade, the same way a taxi is worth the fare when the bus takes an hour.

Judge it by your own habits. A paid plan earns its keep for a man who opens the app for a short session most days, likes women he would genuinely take out, and replies while a match is fresh. It does little for a man who opens Tinder on the odd Sunday, or whose results are held back by something no subscription touches.

Three things hold results back more than anything. A weak lead photo makes women pass before they read a word, so lead with a sharp, current picture of your face, taken outdoors. A flat opener kills the chat before it starts, so answer something she put on her page, the city in her third photo or the sport she plays, in a single easy line. The third is timing. A woman who matches with you and hears nothing for three days has usually moved on, so reply while the match is fresh. When she is clearly enjoying the chat, name a night and a bar.

Fix those, use the app steadily for a couple of weeks, then decide.

If the numbers improve, the plan is earning its keep. If they stay flat, cancel it the way above and put the money somewhere it works harder.
