Decide what you actually want, put a weekly target on it, and tell women the truth early so you can filter fast. Drifting happens when a man goes on dates without an answer to "what do I want out of this?" Without that answer every woman looks equally possible, every week looks the same, and months go by with nothing built. Purpose gives you a way to say yes to the right woman and no to the rest.
Why men drift
Most men drift for one of three reasons.
- They have not decided. A relationship, a string of casual dates or a mix of both all sound fine, so they never choose.
- They are following whoever shows interest. The woman who texts first sets the direction.
- They avoid the hard conversation. Saying what you want feels risky, so you stay vague and hope it works out.
All three leave a man reacting to events. A year later he is in the same place with a few more stories.
Step one: write down what you want
Take ten minutes with a pen. Answer these in plain words.
- What kind of relationship do I want in the next year? Casual, serious, or open to either?
- What does a good week of dating look like for me?
- What would make me walk away from a woman I like?
- What am I willing to give up to get it?
A short, honest answer beats a long, polished one. If you want a serious relationship, write it. If you want to enjoy dating without a commitment for now, write that. The goal is to know.
Notice that this question works for casual and serious goals alike. A man who wants variety and says so is dating with purpose just as much as a man looking for a wife.
Step two: turn it into a weekly number
A purpose with no numbers stays a wish. Attach weekly numbers you control.
- Approaches or conversations with new women.
- Phone numbers or contacts collected.
- Dates set and attended.
Keep it small enough to repeat. Three conversations, one date and one honest follow up is a fine week. Count it on paper. If you keep missing, shrink it, then grow it.
Step three: say what you want early
a dating coach describes a relationship as two things at once: a practical contract and a shared story. The contract is the set of expectations each person holds, spoken or not. When you never state yours, the contract fills in by accident.
So state it early, warmly and without a speech.
- "I am looking for something real, so I do not do casual."
- "I am enjoying dating at the moment and not looking to settle."
A woman who wants something different will tell you, and you have both saved months. A woman who wants the same thing will relax, because you have made it clear.
Step four: filter without guilt
Once you know what you want, filtering is easier. If she wants a long term relationship and you do not, stop dating her. If you want something serious and she says she is not ready, thank her and move on.
You are not being cold. You are being clear, which is kinder than stringing someone along.
Step five: review once a month
Pick a date each month. Look at the numbers, the women you saw, and how you felt. Ask what you want to repeat, drop or change. Adjust the plan.
Men who do this tend to feel in control within a couple of months, even before the results arrive.
Purpose changes how you act in person
A man with a goal walks up to a woman differently. He knows why he is there. He is not shopping for approval, and he is not trying to impress everyone. He asks her real questions, and he decides whether he wants to see her again.
That is easier to practice with a coach watching. On a Cold Approach Bootcamp in Miami or New York, you spend two four-hour blocks a day in the field and learn to talk to women with a clear aim instead of nerves.
Questions men ask
What if I do not know what I want?
Pick a goal for the next three months and test it. You can change it. Having a goal is more useful than having the perfect one.
Is wanting casual dating wrong?
No, as long as you are honest about it. The problem is pretending to want something else.
How do I bring it up without scaring her?
Keep it light and early, in one sentence. Most women appreciate it.
