Yes. Tinder's help center describes people being notified that they have been Super Liked. When your card comes up in her stack, it carries a bright blue star icon, though Tinder says it will not necessarily be the first card she sees. If she subscribes to Tinder Gold or Tinder Platinum, she can also spot a recent Super Like in her Likes You grid.

What she sees

There are up to three places your Super Like shows up for her.

The first is the notification. Tinder tells her she has been Super Liked. The second is her card stack, where your card appears with a bright blue star on it. Tinder says it will not necessarily be the first card she sees, so she may get the notification and keep swiping for a while before she reaches you. The third applies only if she pays for Gold or Platinum: your Super Like can show up in her Likes You grid.

When she might see it

Because your card will not necessarily be first in her stack, there can be a gap between the notification and the moment she actually reaches you. She may be busy, she may swipe through others first, or she may not open the app again for a day.

So do not read anything into the timing. A Super Like that has not turned into a match after an hour has not failed. It may simply not have reached her yet. Carry on with your evening, reply to the women you are already talking to, and let her get to your card in her own time.

Why a Rewind does not make it invisible

Tinder notes that if you undo a Super Like with Rewind, it will not show up for her, even after the notification.

That is useful and a little awkward. Rewind removes your Super Like from the places she would find it. Tinder's wording suggests the notification may already have reached her by then. So she can know that someone Super Liked her and then find nobody there. If you sent one by accident, Rewind still fixes it. Just do not assume a Rewind means she never knew anything happened.

What knowing does to her read of you

Because she knows, a Super Like is not just a way to be seen. It is a statement about you, delivered before she has decided anything.

a dating coach's concern is exactly this. A woman who knows you picked her out as special can feel a little more on a pedestal. He says you may get a bit more attitude, and you may start the conversation with more work to do than after an ordinary Like. That is not a reason never to send one. It is a reason to send one only when you can back it up.

Should you send one, knowing she will be told

Send it when there is something specific about her you want to talk about. Then the star and your first line tell the same story: you noticed her for a reason, and here is the reason.

Hold it back when she is simply the most attractive woman you have seen today. In that case the star only says you are impressed, and nothing you say afterwards adds much to it.

If she matches with you

Your first message is read with the star in mind, so make it light and specific. Mention the thing that caught your attention: a place, a line she wrote, a detail in a photo. Keep it to one or two sentences.

Say one of her photos shows her halfway up a climbing wall. "Okay, how long before you stopped looking terrified up there?" is warm, a little teasing, and easy to answer. Compare it with "You're gorgeous, I had to Super Like you." The second one only repeats what the star already told her.

Do not bring up the Super Like, and do not apologize for it. Do not follow it with a long run of compliments either. She already knows you are interested. What she wants to find out now is whether you are fun to talk to.

If she does not

Some women will see the star and pass anyway. That is her decision about your card, not about the star.

Let it go, and do not read anything dramatic into it. If your Super Likes rarely turn into matches, the question is what women see when your card comes up. The star can bring you to her attention. It cannot change what she thinks of what she finds.

Keep a rough tally over a few weeks. If women match with your ordinary Likes about as often as with your Super Likes, the star is not adding much for you, and you can stop spending them. If the Super Likes clearly do better, keep them for the women you have a real reason to talk to.
